Congrats bud but the two identical 108.4 mph impressed me more, now just think what it would be like if you got a decent / header / cat back / tune........

12's
I didn't beleave it when I come to line up again. Ben had that look on his face and bear hugged me! He said you run 106! Second run 107... Then for the rest of the day 108's!
Jove, that's a great time, especially on such crappy tires (which can't have liked the cold temps much). As I learn more about Minis, I'm finding out they aren't quite as light as I thought they were. How much does a stripped out Mini weigh in at?
My Mini with no sunroof, no back seats, light wheels, 4 gallons of gas, and with me in the car weighs 2650 lbs. The panels and etc do not weigh that much to be taken out in my opinion.
Now that's a fair bit lighter, but I guess getting one down to sub 2200 lbs isn't so easy. I suppose all those modern impact standards put a lot of steel underneath that little shell.
Just curious, how do you launch your car? I can't seem to figure out what works best. Thanks.
A quick burn out to try and get some heat into the tyres. You can only really do this if you have a clutch and diff.
I roll up to staging and hit the first light. Hold the Hand brake and lift the clutch a little bit until it start pulling the car forward. Raise the revs to about 2 - 2.5K and lower the hand brake a-little until the second light comes on and pull it up again so now I'm staged.
This might not be the best way to stage but it works for me
I only learnt this the other day from Paul. Choose one of the 3 yellow lights and just stare at it. As soon you see it come on drop hand brake and left clutch and give some gas. By the time you start moving the green light will be on and you should have a good reaction time. I still need to work on this.

Yeah I'd love to get to 2000lbs but that ant going to happen with out some major surgery.
The problem with the MINI is that some of the panels have double / triple skins for crash protection. You could start drilling holes but then you might loose out on handling on the roundy tracks.
