Is it necessary to Wax after using Zanio Z2? What would you guys recommend that would complement Zanio? How about Mother's pure carnuba paste wax?

 

Some do. But I asked Sal Zaino this very question and he said under no circumstance put carnuaba on his Zaino products. He was not concerned with compatibility but questioned why some one would want to put a less durable product on top of his polymers. Even after I pointed out that some show car enthusiast have touted the look of wax on Zaino, he simply discounted it entirely.

 

Is it necessary from a functional standpoint? Absolutely not. Carnauba waxes are very short-lived, so they will only change the look (temporarily). The Z2 is your protective durable layer.

Like MiniMaybee pointed out (to you and to Sal), some people like the look of a carnauba over Zaino. It definitely does change the look, much more so on dark colors. Most think that it helps "warm" the look of Zaino. On the other hand, some people love the look of Zaino all by itself. So, it's purely personal preference. Do you like shine (Zaino) or warmth (carnauba)?

As for which carnauba, I've been partial to P21S for years now (great depth, no trim staining, super easy to use, etc), but really any carnauba paste wax will add warmth and depth to Zaino if that's the look you're trying to achieve. Each carnauba does offer a slightly different look, due to the type & percentage of carnauba in it, as well as the type and quality of the oils in it. But my advice is, if you want to try adding warmth to your Zaino, try any decent brand of carnauba to see if you like what it does.

The shine you will get with Zaino polish is incredible. I have 'zaino'd' my MINI and gone back and added extra coats as needed. No build up as found with waxes and no issues with the usual wax mess you get on the plastic trim.
