Dash Treatment ... Nero or 303?
Dash Treatment ... Nero or 303?
I tried Groits Viynl and and Rubber Dressing on the interior and the black portions of the exterior. I'm not unhappy with the results but I'm kinda looking for something with a tiny bit more shine (not glossy but...). How does Nero and 303 compare to Groits? Is there another product I should consider?
Unfortunately, there's no objective "shine index" that will let you compare two vinyl dressings. I have heard people say that they like the 303 specifically because it's not very shiny, so you might feel the same way about it as you do the Griot's.
Perhaps you could use the original Armor All and hit it with a dry towel afterward to knock back a little of the gloss?
I've also found that the material used for the dash and door panels in the MINI doesn't really take very much of a shine regardless of the product, so you might not even have to go over the Armor All with a towel.
Some vinyl dashes are almost like hard smooth plastic, while others almost have a "rubbery" texture. I think the MINI's dash is closer to the "rubbery" side.

Griot's Rubber/Vinyl Dressing is my favourite tire dressing by a long shot. The only bad thing is that since I started applying it with their contoured applicator instead of a towel or sponge, I just realized that the gallon I bought is more than I will ever likely need. I could have stuck with the quart-size and still gotten several years out of it.
sure, i hate shiny interiors and Nero provides a very matte finish
which i could not achieve with Griots or Meg. it's super easy to
apply too... just spray into DP's general purpose MF towel and
wipe on. i do a dry wipe (if needed).
if you want more shine, apply again.
no greasy residue even if you touch it right after app...no
smears from fingers on door panels, etc. it's a nice easy product
and the bottle looks great. spray head is easy to use too and
doesn't drip.

Or maybe I'm just trying to justify the overflowing shelf of various car care products in our garage!
Seriously though, you will find different results on different types of rubber and vinyl. Just something to keep in mind!

That's interesting, because the reason I like the Griot's for that stuff (and especially the tires!) is that it's NOT very shiny.

but latetly turned into a Prima-dork due to Nero and Epic.
i haven't tried Nero on exterior, but for interior it is the one i will
only use for now.

am i going to be the first one shipping a Nero to Japan?
hehehe.
a friend said that dressings will dry out the material the dash is made of. anyone hear of anything like that with this nero stuff? personally i dont see how it would be possible with it being water based.
I've never heard any factual evidence supporting the claim, and I've never had a problem personally with any of the products I've used.
Unless someone comes out with a "dressing" that's made of sulfuric acid and isopropyl alcohol, I wouldn't worry about it.
