Cleaning rubber floor mats
Cleaning rubber floor mats
just curious, what do people use? rubber cleaner or does that leave a slick surface?
i've only cleaned mine once, so far, and i used a sponge with some of the car wash soap still in the bucket, but i'm sure that's not the best thing.
these mats are great, btw, look cool and i don't mind stepping on them with wet shoes, but since mine are black, they show dirt quickly and hold it.
thanks!

That is the problem with rubber mats, that get dirty quickly. Carpet mats hide the dirt. My wife would just take them out of the car, wash with some soap and hose them off.
a few weekends ago i washed my Legacy's all weather mats using
car shampoo and boar's hair brush. looks real nice.
i was washing the car so i laid out the mats on the driveway and used
the same stuff.
i have the RubberCleaner... yah, i should probably try that next time.

They are a wee bit slick, though neither of us has had a problem. I'd recommended letting the mats dry for a little while. Perhaps do them before you even start washing the MINI, or let them sit overnight.
love the rubber mats, too!
In Minnesota, you get a bit of snow and rubber mats are a must.
I use them year-round and clean them with my car shampoo when dirty.
If it's just dry dirt, I take them out, shake them off, and apply some Aerospace 303 to them with a sponge.
Let them sit, then dry with a microfiber towel. They look restored.
Drying them removes any slickness.
Motor on!

303 on the dash-absolutely...no greasy shine.
I also use it on all my exterior black trim pieces-very nice!
sorry, I went for the leather seats and use a Meguires product on them.
Best of luck...a clean MINI is a happy MINI!

DON"T USE 303 ON THE SEATS!! Sorry for the caps but I'm really serious about it! I used it thinking that on leatherette it'd be great. I ended up with weird feeling squeaky seats for a week that I had to sponge off to make them useable. Love 303 for anything else though but noooooo leatherette seats IMHO!
Ken, I can't imagine how clean your car must be given your routine and no daily driving. When you sell that car (hopefully around the time I get to 100K miles) I want to know first!
nono, that's the mavrick SUV killer missle holder
