Should I invest in Pinnacle Soüveran?
Should I invest in Pinnacle Soüveran?
Good evening,
I was just looking at the wax-job-photo thread that showed some really glossy glaze/wax jobs on a red and a green MINI. Both were apparently done with Pinnacle Soüveran paste wax.
The PS is a bit pricier than the stuff I'm using today, and I'm wondering if PS users could let me know if they think it's a good deal. How does the performance, gloss, durability, etc. stack up against the price? Should I invest in some Pinnacle Soüveran this coming Spring?
If I could find out whether this is the most awesome was in the whole world, it will help me put a good spin on things when the wife sees the bill and looks like
.
Of course, then I'll have to buy a full-blast digital SLR camera to document the results. They cost atleast as much as 4 or 5 cans of PS!
Thanks!

I'm not sure what thread your referring to but I only user pinnacle sourveign.
I would say to use the Klasse Twins FIRST, then apply the Sourveign with one day between coats.
I don't know why you would wait until Spring. Don't you want a shiny car now? Wax will help protect the paint over the winter.
BTW, a side benefit of Sourveign is that it smell great!

I just put a coat on today! Buy it, you will not regret it!!! It's so easy to apply and remove, and the depth of shine on dark colors is amazing. One jar of wax also lasts a very long time, becuase you only need to apply a thin layer. As far as durability, you can probably get only a month or two out of a coat, so I'd recommend putting on the Klasse twins (6-12 months of protection) first and then Souveran on top.
Thanks for the inputs! I'll definitely be ordering the PS wax soon. Right now I'm using Klasse SG base (2 coats done last weekend for the Winter) then Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax #26 every few weeks. Can't wait to try out the PS.

Save your 70$ and wait till the warmer weather comes around, then you will see souveran in all its glory. If winter is that bad where you need klasse, having a nuba is pointless as it will wear off quickly. If you want your car to look great and have winter protection, look at Collinite Marque D Excellence. Excelent ease of application, along with great looks.
Again its pointless to spend that much on a wax to just top a hard sealant. Save it for summer.
On darker colors... especially metalics, a topping of carnuba over a synthetic like klasse or Zaino really pops. It gives the finish a very wet, glossy, rich look that the sealant alone doesn't produce. If you are looking for protection only, skip the wax. If you are looking to eek the last bit of shine out of your finish for some event, the wax may put you over the top.
You might want to look into P21s wax. It's a very high quality carnuba wax w/ no fillers or abrasives (like Soverign). It's also about half the price of Soverign.

PS looks great and is a nice carnauba for mild climates. I never use it in winter because of the 3 or 4 week durability issue.
If you have the cash to spare give it a try. Before liquid souveran became $25 or $30 a bottle, it was a good value IMO. Not the same look as PS but more durable, wet look and of course doesn't stain trim.
Natty's blue is also nice as well ClearKote CMW and about 15 other carnuabas.
One I don't have yet is the new 5050 from chemical guys which is being compared to PS. A little cheaper too. I saw some pics of 5050 on a silver Merc this morning on autopia.org that looked nice.

I would second agranger. P21S is half the price, will not stain your trim and will last every bit as long as PS. I'd bet you a Big Red soda pop that in a side-by-side you would not be able to tell which was which, except that one will deplete your pocket money much faster. If you're in to spending money for spendings sake - Zymol has a deal for you and 1800 of your closest George Washingtons.
