Self- retracting water hose...

The next on the to-buy list is a self-retracting water hose reel. I
currently have a manual winding reel which is a biotch sometimes
to use because the reel is placed between my cars and so when
im crouched down to wind up my hose, my butt tends to touch
the sidewall of my rear 19" S03's on my G35C making me look like
i sat on some curved banana looking black crap. My wife was
looking at me like wth did you do your new pants?

uh oh... (my son points to my butt laughing)

My faucet is on the inner garage wall... and since i have my workbench
near that same wall, i want to place the self-retracting hose and reel on
the floor or on one of the shelves, not directly mounted on the wall.

Which one would you recommend? (budget about $200 max they're
all about that price range).

im thinking about this one since i can just set it on the floor...

thanks.

i thought about that, but my village requires those water return release
valves on the faucet which will probably cause the water to spill
tremendously before it builds enough pressure to get to the ceiling...

the faucet itself is non-standard thread size so i can't hook up a hose
to it unless i have that damn valve... so im thinking about
keeping everything low so that i don't wet the garage floor.

I actually have one on my amazon wishlist, planning on getting one to go with my new house. But $200?? They start around $50. Pay attention to its capacity in hose length and hose diameter, my nice 5/8" craftsman rubber hose takes up more than the typical hose. This is the one I plan to get on amazon.

water based engine. it probably won't have enough torque to pull
the hose in all the way (expecially in cooler/cold weather) and the
garage floor will be completely drenched by the time the hose is
completely rewound.

the $200 (well it's $179 + shipping) has an internally wound
mechanical spring and comes with its own hose. basically your
tape measurer but larger with a hose. and it can be set on
the floor.

Ah.. well I like the idea of a little water piston engine better. I've seen the videos and reviews, it does work. Just another one of those neat inventions!

Step away from the Griot's catalog...

It does look like a nice reel and I've been looking for something similar. I just can't bring myself to dropping that much money on one. I probably will though since all of the cheaper ones don't look like they will last that long. I'd rather spend a little more for something that is US made and will last.

I have an expensive automatic one and they always need some help. The hose can screw up inside and it's a pain to straighten it. The best hose reel I have was around $12.99 at Target. No problems with the hose lining up, much quicker and I get a little exercise!
