Just used the Zymol products I bought in February for the first time. Michigan was 55 degrees today, so I washed, cleaned and waxed today.

First, let me tell you that I'd never used a "quality" wax product before. Off the shelf stuff from the local store. But, my Mini deserves better and so I went with Zymol.

Washing went well with their brand of wash. The first surprise, though, was their "HD Cleanser". They recommend using it twice a year to take of oxidized paint, grime, old waxes, etc. I used it today, and my first impression is that it works great. My Mini is only 3 months old, but you could feel the smoothness of the paint to the touch after cleansing. Lots of stuff taken off, and after the winter we had with salt, etc., I'm glad I did it.

I've always dreaded waxing, but applying the Zmol wax was easy. Went on easily, and buffed out easily. My wife even waxed her car. Smells great, too. Car had a noticable shine after one coat. I may wax again tomorrow to add some shine and seal.

All in all, very impressed with the first use. It's not cheap, but it worked as advertised.

a second thread, trying to get more exposure eh?

Yes, the weather today in MI was AWESOME!

What Zymol wax did you use (i.e. Carbon, MINI-glaze, etc.)?

Glad to hear you liked the HD cleanse, I've never been a fan of it; I prefer to clay-bar versus HD Cleanse (just my preference).

Cheers,
Ryan

Wasn't trying to get more exposure. Just hit the submit button twice.

I used the creme wax; their basic wax. I decided not to go with the Mini yellow glaze. I wasn't sure how it would work or how good the products really were, so I went with an introductory kid that had creme wax, leather cleaner, hd cleanse, soap, and applicators. I may try to Mini glaze later.

Don't know if you've tried the glaze. Can you give me some insight of the difference between glaze vs. wax? Would you recommend one over another?

BTW-last Sunday I was driving through Ann Arbor (campus area) and saw 3 Mini's in town (yellow, gray with bonnet stripes, pepper white) within an hour. Nice to see them on the road.

the MINI-glaze is just a name, it's still a yellow caranuba base just like your Creme. I'm guess you got the Creme 'cuz your MINI is a lighter color (yellow, like your icon?). I use Carbon on my BMW, which is Granite Silver (a bluish metallic gray). Carbon I believe has a higher percentage of caranuba, plus some differences suited for darker paints (not a real big deal).

I'm gonna probley start using white caranuba when I get the MINI, the optics are better (less distorted, mostly in color), however it's much, much more expensive. A container of Concours is $133, versus the $38 of the Creme and Carbon.

The MINI-glaze seems to be much different in composition compared to all of Zymol's other waxes, since it uses Caranuba Sap as well as Yellow Caranuba. I'm not sure why this is, since there is nothing unique about the paint used on the MINI. It's not very expensive, I'll pick it up and try a comparison

Cheers,
Ryan

Can someone describe how to use the MINI glaze in the Zymol kit?
The container says something about warming it up between fingers (?) so does that mean you apply it by hand = with your hands!? That sounds strange?

One day soon it will be warm enough here in Mass to go for my first real clean, and I want to be sure I get it right

Thanks

the ingredients that Zymol puts in their Caranuba waxes work bets when applied warm, even hot. A trick is to leave you car in the sun for a while, then move it to the shade (to keep UV off of it while applying the stuff, and to not zyme the ingredients too quickly).

Yes, for Zymol's "estate glazes" they are rubbed on by hand, no applicators, just you and a glob of stuff

Good luck!

What's the difference between the mini-glaze for different colors. Since my MCS is BRG with a white top does that mean that I need to use different Zymol waxes for the top and the rest of the car? Or will it really make a difference from using regular mini glaze everywhere?

I've never owned a new sports car that I wanted to keep clean and shiny before, so this is a new experience! It was easier to just wash the mud off my old 4x4!

Thanks for all the detailing help!

I think the only reason they need the color of your car is so that the bag the Zymol comes in matches! I used my MINI glaze this weekend and love how easily it buffed. My car looked great too. Except now it's raining.
