MF towels

Should I have a towel for every job, Polish removal, wax removal, interior cleaning, window cleaning and drying? I know drying towels have to be special, but to i have to keep everything else separate?

Yes, it's easier, or else keep them clean.

Well I have polish MF that will stay that way because they are easy to seperate, same with the wax removal and glass. I was thinking about using the others for quick detailing and interior things. I almost always wash my towels as soon as im done working on the car.

I keep most of mine separate, but I'll often use the same ones for waxing, quick detailing, and mild polishing, but I only use each towel for one task at a time and then wash it afterwards. I have bigger waffle weave MF's for drying.

Thats what i was thinking, one task at a time. The only ones that would have anything abrasive in them would be the polish ones, which are a different color.

I also keep them seperate by color and by application......yellow for polish, green for washing, blue for glass and interior, etc. I find it helps when doing a whole day detailing job.

Here is an exerpt from an article I wrote...

Detailing Towels

Detailing towels have many uses from polishing off wax residue on your paint to dusting the interior to cleaning glass. The best results come from choosing a towel made specifically for the task at hand.

·Cotton towels were once the mainstay of all detailing duties but the vast differences in quality make them risky for paintwork. Cotton is best reserved as a tough-duty towel for wiping out doorsills, under the hood and general cleaning.
·Glass Cleaning Microfiber towels are specifically made from a short, dense weave, which easily cuts through interior windshield film or exterior dirt and dries without streaking or smearing. Quality glass microfibers will not lint.
·Edgeless Polishing Towels are designed primarily to remove dried wax off of the paint surface. The weave is short and the many thousands of loops of the fiber can easily grab the excess residue off the surface of the paint without scratching. The lack of a thick edge binding means this towel won’t scratch even if you accidentally rub against the edge while polishing.
·Quick Detailing Microfiber towels are plusher, softer and more absorbent than Polishing towels. Quick detailing towels have a longer nap and provide more cushioning against the surface. This is perfect for wiping off and absorbing quick detailing spray. The long nap is also beneficial because it can grab loose dirt and debris any pull it up into the nap and away from the surface helping to avoid scratching. Because detailing towels are so soft and pliable they don’t always remove dried-on wax as well as polish towels.
·Paper Towels and Newspapers are great for around the house but they are out-classed by newer technology in microfiber. Paper products can scratch paint and window tint films, smear and leave lint.

I've got several types of microfibers laying around...

1: Polishing: I've got some beautiful Sonus polishing microfibers with a deep, plush nap on one side for detailing sprays and a tighter/shorter one on the other side for wax/polish removal.

2. Drying: I've got 2 of the Sonus Ultimate Drying towels... a waffleweave towel that is fairly large w/ silk bound edges.

3. Glass: I bought a handful of glass microfibers at PepBoys and I love 'em... very short, very tight nap that scrubbs everything off nicely and has great coverage.

4. General Purpose: I still keep a handful of the cheapie, Target-brand, microfibers laying around for plastic treatment, door sill cleaning, leather conditioning, etc...
