I have a 2005 MCS, I am getting this weird film on the inside of the driver door window. I wash the windows with windex, but as soon as I roll my window down and back up it will come back. I have had this problem for a few months now. Has anyone else had this problem?
Help please!!!!
Thanks in advance

your first mistake was using windex. avoid using any cleaner that has ammonia in it, it only leads to drying out of the plasticy bits around the window.
Try using something like Stoner's Invisible Glass (can be had at walmart) and see if that fixes the problem. You could also check around the seal of the window to see if any liquid is pooling there that might cause the hazing.

'cause amonia will fog the ting. I have trouble getting glass clean with paper towels. If not using already get some microfiber towels. Clean glass wihtout streakiung and removes films etc much better... They're in auto depts, even in Wal mart

Once a friend "helped" me lubing the door hinges with some spray lub. He accidently got the lub on the roled down window. When I roled up the window the lub got on the felt strip. After that every time I roled up the window I had a film smeer near the front of the window. It took a bit of work to get the lub off the window felt once I figured out what the problem was.

FinsUp,
I have the same problem. I believe it to be something on the rubber squeegie seal. I have not done it yet, but I am going to roll my window all the way down, and I have some of those small alcohol pads that you buy in the first aid section of a drug store that I am going to use to try and cleam the edge and under side of that seal.I jsut had my windows tinted they other day, so I need to wait for them to cure befoe I roll my windows down.
I also use these pads on my wiper blade, They really do a great job cleaning all of the grease and crap off of you blades.

I have the same exact problem, and it's driving me insane!
I have tinted windows, and so I cannot use window cleaner with ammonia, as it will ruin the tint film. (Confession: I really miss the cleaning power of my Windex. Ammonia does work well to clean tint-less windows)!
Anyway, I don't know what the substance is that is smearing onto my window every time I roll it back up, but it is sure annoying.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO SOLVE THIS???
ERICSNYDER: please let us know if your alcohol wipes idea works for you. I might try the same thing. Would alcohol harm the tint at all, (like ammonia would)?

First of all it is very common to have a film on the window that Windex will not remove. You really should get a better window cleaner. Try Sonus Vision or Invisible Glass. They are both also safe for tint.
If it is coming back when you roll the window down and back up, then yes the felt squeegee at the top of the door panel is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Roll the window down all the way to get access to it. I like your suggestion of medical alcohol pads, but you may also want to try something with soap, like a paper towel with dish soap to first remove any grease.

The weird thing is that this was not a problem for about the first six months that I owned the car. Now it happens every time I was it, which is frequently. A triangle shape spot appears on the front section of both windows. It is irritating because the rest of the car is spotless.

Mine is doing the same thing on the drivers side only. I have a streak of something right at the door open handle and speaker
. It's not just the felt. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take off the door panel and find out what is rubbing inside

.if the weird film is an old John Water's flick like Desparate Living, Pink
Flamingos, etc, then Mary Avara of the Maryland Censor Board might
be able to help you get rid of it.

Actually, my favorite glass cleaner that's tint safe, no ammonia, and better than IG, IMO because it's non aerosol, is Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner.

Works great for getting bug guts off your paint and for general around the house cleaning---yes it's multipurpose though it's sold as a glass cleaner.

I am having same problem on the drivers side. I don't use an ammonia based cleaner and have tried cleaning the felt squeegee at the top of the window. I need help too.

I am glad and sorry to hear I am not alone on this problem. It must be something inside the door. I have had no luck getting rid of it. I appreciate so many responses to my original post. Hopefully someone with have the cure for it.
thanks,

Just a guess, but the dealer may have got silicone spray on the internal felt guides somewhere during one of the many power window motor replacements. Cuz the film feels a little greasy here.

Did a search and haven't found anyone say they solved this (by cleaning the rubber, having the dealer fix it or by other means). Mine did this from day 1 (about 9 months ago). Now that winter is over and I started rolling down the windows again, the problem is happening worse than before.

I had film on my Jeep windows, and it was caused by the strip that seals the outside of the window. I rolled down the window and cleaned the seal with an alcohol swipe, then cleaned and clayed the window with Prima clay and Prima Clarity. No more streaking!

I used Meguiar's Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner (#39) and a rag wrapped around a credit card to clean up the gunk. It took a while to clean up and at first I didn't even get it all. I went at it again and now it is clean. I wonder what that stuff was and why there was so much of it.
