as of yet i dont know if it cuts thru/remove.

i've used it for years and have not had a brake dust problem it also repels road tar fairly well!!!

it sticks and stays longer than any wax i've tried in the past!!

No, it is the same ph as water.
I've been using Sonus Rim Bright as it is just as good as the P21S Gel but a bit cheaper.

What do you use to remove the gritty brake dust that is engrained into the wheel? I went a few months before first cleaning my wheels, and can only get new dust off, not the black specks :(

I've been using the P21S spray bottle with some success.

those are encrusted rubber! at least that's my case

i dont let it stay on in the first place, but i do have a few, i try my best to just get it out but it never works once it is into the metal... that's why everytime i get home from a track day... i just spray the wheels

If the bits are really in there, remove the wheels and wash well with whatever wheel cleaner you want, inside and out. Rinse well and slop on some fresh wash water with auto detergent. Clay bar. Rinse well. Dry and apply wax, NXT or a sealant like Zaino or Klasse (sealing is recommended)

Zaino on wheels...

I've read via multiple posts that Zaino can be used on the wheels to help repel brake dust, but I'm unsure of which specific Zaino product is the best for use on wheels? I just received my kit today and want to be super sure before I do anything silly...

Generic references to "using zaino" mean Z2.
It should help a little but often the difference is barely noticable.
The only real solution is to get rid of those stock brake pads.
But then again every little bit helps.

I have a sticky mark on my wheel from where the dealer balanced my wheels and replaced the weight. By the time I noticed it, it had become black with brake dust. How can I remove it w/o scrtaching the finish? Regular wheel cleener (Griots) won't do it by itself, and I am loathe to scrape it off.
Any suggesttions?

I've had good results with the Castrol "Super Clean" cleaner/degreaser... the purple stuff in the purple bottle. I use it as a "pre wash" before washing the car.

The MINI wheel cleaner (I received a bottle a s a gift) is OK but not as good as many other wheel cleaners I've used. Definitely not as good as the Castrol cleaner.

I use bug and tar remover for this sticky stuff. Works great. Soak the remnents of the foam backing from the old wheel weight that was there then use an old rag soaked with additional bug and tar remover and wipe back and forth to remove the rest.

I change tires and wheels several times a season (several sets of track tires!) so I am doing this constantly!

Also, a really cool accessory/tool to get is a "plastic" razor blade. It's just what it sounds like- a single edged, straight razor blade that is made of plastic instead of metal. They are fantastic. I use these a lot to remove the thick sticky backing, stickers, etc. They will not hurt your wheels. Check your local art supply store, google them to find them, etc. They are cheap and come in many colors, too!

If you're being sarcastic, you sure are convincing.

Just in case: NEVER use Windex anywhere but windows!!! It contains ammonia which will damage the clearcoat on the paint and wheels

I wish I new something about detailing before we got the MINI! Life would be so much easier... course I did say the same thing about elementary school

I've never taken my wheels off to clean them before, and I've been driving my 'own' car for about 6 years now. Now to be a part of my 6 month full wash/wax/claybar program. (Will wax touch-up wax in between). Thanks for the tip guys!
