Extreme Pre-winter detail...

Ok this one goes out to all of the detail nuts in the place (like myself), especially you, Brad.

How does this sound for the most extreme winterization you've ever heard of:

1. Wash, clay, wash
2. AIO
3. SG
4. Glanz
5. SG
6. Glanz
7. SG
8. Collinite fleet wax (885 - same as "double coat 476")
9. Collinite Insulator wax 845

Haven't done it yet, not sure if I will, but it's fun to think about, no?

Hello:
This is my first time with a car in a cold location (NYC). Would you be so kind and elaborate about which products are you talking about and what they do for the car during winter season?
PS: I keep the car indoors.
Thank you.

in the world of minis, everyone talk zaino... for me... pre-winter treatment involves 3 layers of Z2, no Z5... with Z6 in between... mother's clay,

external rubber gets 303 aerospace protectant... tires get dressing, although i dont apply them during the season... all alloys washed inside/out, antiseize on all wheel bolts (or studs when i get them), external black plastic trim gets Autoglym bumper care, with application every 2 washes (or about twice a week)

typically.. i find myself re-applying zaino to raw surface in between the months jan and feb to the lower sides, and the entire rear end...

No problem, that's why we are all here!

AIO - Klasse all in one - light duty polish/paint cleaner

SG - Klasse sealant glaze - not a wax, but a paint protectant nonetheless. It creates an acrylic "shield" which bonds to your paint and protects it for months. It can be layered.

Glanz - Sonus Acrylic glanz - a quicker version of SG, some put it in between SG layers, others use it after washes, I believe it puts another acrylic layer on your paint.

Collinite Fleet wax (885 and 476) - heavy duty, long lasting paste wax made for autos and boats. Collinite is known for its durability and ability to bead water amazingly. 885 and 476 are more durable than the next product I listed:

Collinite Insulator wax (845) - liquid (thick) wax, not as durable as 476, but superior in shine and depth.

All of these products (alone, not even put together) will protect your paint from rain, snow, and most notably, road salt. You will not have to be quite as extreme since you have a garage - a simple durable wax, like the collinite (or blitz wax) or a sealant like klasse or a polymer like Zaino, as someone else mentioned will suit you just fine.

Best thing you can do is go to www.autopia.org and search the hell out of it regarding all of these products. Then read for a long time.

That sounds awesome. Can you recommend an anti-seize, or would whatever I can get from autozone do the trick?
