Stripping wax?

I know to add a bit of Dawn soap and water to strip wax from the car, but how can you tell when the wax has been properly removed? I'm having vinyl stripes added to a few spots to my MINI and need to remove the wax for that, then following after the stripes I'm waxing with Zaino.

You can usually tell because the paint is not slippery (real slick) when dry and when wet is "squeeky" when rubbed.

I'll 'ditto' the 'squeeky when wet' comment from above. When wet, your fingers will 'stutter' across the no-wax surface of the car... they will glide across a waxed surface.
