A Few Questions????
A Few Questions????
So i am looking at the zaino products list and there are so many, In reality what do i really need to buy? Should i buy their kit? Are there directions on how to use the products and in what order to use them? These products are going to be used on a '47 chevy fleetmaster, a rather large vehicle,do i need to buy more products? I just got back from a rather large show and i had several comments from people about how nice my paint was, all i do is wash with nxt wash then wax with meguirs gold class and then a little quick detailer when i get to the show, i was shocked by the comments because i didnt think it looked as good as they were saying, Any help would be appreciated,

The less expensive starter kit is great. If you have a leather interior and want to use their leather cleaner and conditioner (excellent products), go for the bigger one and get the rubber/plastic treatment 'for free'. It's also a solid product, but there are other ones that you can source locally that will do just as well or better.

The Z-8 is a QD for use IN ADDITION to your Z-6, which is wonderful stuff (the Z6 comes in every kit). The Z8 is for use on those days where you want your car to look even more special and have even more slickness. It's kinda expensive and I'm not completely sold on the cost for the benefits, but that's another thread that has been discussed before. You have to use Z6 before you use Z8.

I thought Z6 was for everyday use, and Z8 for special occasions.
What gives?

IMHO, Z8 should be preceeded by Z6. It's for those special occasions where you can use Z6 to clean the surface and add a spritz of Z8 for additional shine and slickness.
I don't think that Z8 has the lubricating qualities of Z6 to float particulates (dust, dirt, ect) from the surface of the paintwork... you need Z6 for that.
From the Zaino web page for Z8:

Is intended for special occasions and events only; it is not a Z-6 replacement

if you are going to clay the car, you do not need to waste your time drying it. You can use either the QD spray or a soap and water mixture to lubricate the clay bar.
from there go to the wash.
then, in terms of polish, it depends on how bad your paint is. If you have swirls and such, then you probably should polish them out or fill them.
finally wax.

i guess the reason why i felt drying the car was necessary ( after the first wash and before the clay ) is because i thought the QD spray would smear with water.

Only going to use QD for spot claying now.

hands down, the best instructions on what you should do is listed here:

one really important thing, more important than how good your wax is, is your process. make sure you use the right equipment as using the wrong ones will induce a lot of swirls onto the car.
