Get a bottle of 3M "Perfect it" Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colored Cars (Part #39009) and follow instructions on the label. Then follow up with your favorite polish/wax.

Don't fret if you still see the "Etching" mark in the clearcoat. Bird poo is highly acidic and even if you had the ability to remove the stuff within minutes of the incident, it will still leave a mark. Frequent subsequent car washes and maybe 4-6 weeks after the fact, the mark residue appears to evaporate and you won't even be able to see where it was before.

The first step, is to get that bottle of 3M swirl mark remover, great stuff to have in your car cleaning arsenal.

Here's a thought, haven't tried it myself, but it might do the trick. You mentioned the poo disappearing after a few months, so UV and weather must be slowly breaking it down.

Why not try and enzymatic cleaner, like Nature's Miracle, on the bird poo remains? Just a thought.

cheers,
matthew Z.
