Fabric treatment recommendations?

I just took delivery of my MINI. The seats are Tartan Red cloth w/ Black leather bolsters. I love the fabric and want to treat it to make it stain resistant and easy to maintain.

Please pass along your recommendations.

303 makes a wide variety of products that come very highly recommended.

They have a fabric cleaner pump spray and a fabric protectant that I have heard good things about. I saw both of them at a Smith and Hawken store in Dallas (high-end garden products - used to clean/protect lawn furniture pads) and I would bet that they are also available in boating stores as well.

Thanks agranger! I found some at a local marine store. Unless someone has a better suggestion, I'm going to give it a try.

Does anyone have any concerns about the color-fastness of the fabric?

I used Scotchguard on my Octagon Panther Black seats. I had no problems with the colorfastness, but I'm not thrilled with the product. I got my car detailed last week and they spilled some kind of white liquid on the passenger seat and it stained it. I brought the car back and it came out quickly with upholstery cleaner, but the fact is, if the Scotchguard had been working, the liquid shouldn't have been absorbed. So next time I go with 303.

I applied the 303 High Tech Fabric Guard tonight. It was easy enough to apply. Tomorrow, when I'm sure it's fully dried, I'll follow up to let everyone know how it turned out.

The 303 High Tech Fabric Protection seems to have created no ill effects. The fabric has the same look and feel as before, though it should be now
protected from staining and should be easy to clean.

Stain-resistance has not been tested.

Re-application is recommended whenever any cleaning solution is used or when one motoring-year passes.

Well, as I posted above, the Scotchguard didn't protect my seats from the liquid that spilled onto my passenger seat and caused a stain (fortunately it did come out with upholstery cleaner). And I used an entire can for the front and back seats. Also, Scotchguard does not have UVB protection like the 303 Fabric Guard has. Overall, I'd say that 303 is the better product.

eMINI, thanks for the report!

darn. I already got a can of the scotchgard. Haven't used it since it's been to cold to do pretty much anything, but it looks as though I should go get myself the 303 instead. Thanks for all the comments.

can one buy the 303 product line at one's local auto parts store, or does one have to buy through the mail?

I had a LOT of trouble finding the 303 products locally. If you visit the 303 site they have a store finder, but make sure you try a few different zip codes for your neighboring cities. I live in Skokie, IL, and used that zip code and only found stores about 2 hours away, but then after weeks of searching I decided to just put in the chicago zip code, and VIOLA, there was one about 15 minutes away.
