Anyone got good Zaino instructions?

Does anyone have any good detailed Zaino instructions, or a link to where I can find some? I did do a search, so many links, so I am still filtering through them. I was just wondering if anyone had a saved link or saved detailed instructions. Or mayb e just post here what you know.

I've finally got a non rain weekend to use my new Zaino kit I got for Christmas. (This is the first weekend since christmas that won't have any rain).

Thanks for any help.

Try www.zainobros.com

or, www.autopia.org (then do a search for Zaino tips).

I think you also get instructions when you purchase the products.

It's good stuff

Yep yep, got instructions there and in the kit, but they are not all in 1 place. So I have made these.... (Current work in progress):

Ingredients
- 3 x 100% Cotton Made in USA Bath Size Towel , sides cut off.
- Liquid Dawn detergent
- 1 Spray bottle.
- Z18 Claybar
- Z7 Carwash
- Z6 Mist Enhancer
- Z2 Polish
- Z5 Swirl mark polish

Step 1. WASH
Liquid Dawn.
Wash the MINI with 1 ounce of Liquid Dawn diluted to 2.5 gallons of water.

Step 2. CLAY
Z18 Claybar. 100% Cotton Towel. Spray bottle. Z7.
Before using a Z-18 ClayBar on your car, you must thoroughly clean and dry your car to remove any loose dirt. Direct sunlight should not fall on your car's surface, and it's best if the work area is relatively cool to prevent rapid evaporation of the clay lubricant .

Add ½ a cap of Z7 Carwash to 12 ounces of water for a lubricant. Lubricate a small 3ft x 3ft section to be cleaned. Using adequate pressure beging rubbing the Z18 Claybar back and forth with light to medium pressure over the lubricated area. Then wipe the area with a 100% cotton towel and continue in small sections until the entire vehicle is complete. Always use new parts of the clay bar, and never reuse sides. Pull stretch and fold to get new sides.

Note: Never clay on a hot surface. Always inspect Claybar to insure no heavy particles or debris are present. DO NOT use the clay bar after it’s been dropped on the ground.
Note2: Can never stress enough that your car must be clean, VERY clean before you clay.

Step 3. WASH 2
Z7 Carwash
Rewash the entire vehicle with Z7 Carwash after Step 2. Dry vehicle with electric blower or 100% Cotton bath towel.

Step 4. APPLY Z5 POLISH (if you have swirl marks, else use Z2 here)
Z5 Polish. #314 Applicator. ZFX.
Mist the applicator with Z6 to make it easier for polishing. Mix 7-9 drops of ZFX to 2 ounces of polish into the 2 ounce Mixer bottle. Shake well for 90 seconds.

While you get your towels and applicators ready, allow the ZFX™ enabled Zaino Show Car Polish to sit for five minutes so ZFX™ can begin activating the polish. Give the applicator bottle a final shake for 10 seconds before using.

Squirt dime size amount of polish onto applicator and rub into paint using back and forth hand motion for top surface and vertical motion for side surfaces.

Allow the polish to haze (dry) for 30 minutes, then remove with 100% cotton bath towel.

When you are finished polishing, wash the mixing bottle inside and out with a heavy concentration of liquid dishwashing detergent (Liquid Dawn) and thoroughly rinse.

Note: Only need half a bottle ( 1 ounce) to do a MINI.

Step 5. APPLY Z6 SPRAY
Z6 Mist Enhancer
Use Z-6 very sparingly, less than one ounce will do your whole car. Lightly mist only the center of a 1 foot section on the car. A dime size amount of Z-6 is plenty... Immediately buff with a 100% cotton towel until dry. You will feel the surface get slicker and slicker. Turn towel frequently. Repeat on next section until entire car is finished. Do not let Z6 dry on car. If Z-6 drys by itself just reapply Z-6 to affected area and rebuff until completely dry. Less than one ounce will do an average size vehicle. Works great on rims, chrome, trim and plastic.

Step 6. APPLY Z2 POLISH
Z2 Polish.

Feel free to polish wheels, plastic and chrome.

When you are finished polishing, wash the mixing bottle inside and out with a heavy concentration of liquid dishwashing detergent (Liquid Dawn) and thoroughly rinse.

Note: Only need half a bottle ( 1 ounce) to do a MINI.

Step 7. REPEAT STEP 5 HERE.

HINTS:

Apply Zaino VERY thin.

You can tell Zaino is dry by very lightly wiping the residue with your finger. If ALL of the residue easily is removed then it's dry. Sometimes it takes as little as 10-15 minutes to dry sometimes more than 30. It just depends on humidity and temperature.

You can use a quality microfiber towel instead of a cotton bath towel to polish off. Zaino mentions cotton towels because of the initial variance in quality of microfiber.

Thanks for tips Brad!!

It took me 6 hours man.... SIX HOURS to do my stoopid steps, and man am I BEAT.

Car looks like it came straight out the dealership though! ... Well it looks like the ones they have on display. (My car was dirty when dealer gave to me, lol. )

But yeah, Zaino is good stuff. Definitely stand by it. They got 1 more loyal and happy customer today!

I too found it confusing initially, especially as the numbers Z5 before Z2, etc, aren't quite intuitive, so I applaud you for listing them out.

How many times did you repeat Steps 5 & 6? I did three coats of Z2 my first time. Then I do a Z2 every month or so, until cold weather sets in.

I did a test, I did Z5 on 1 window, and Z2 on another window on the next layer. Both of them make the glass BEAUTIFUL and clean. Although you get to see how dirty the inside of the window really is, lol.

I did Step 6 a total of 2 times, because I only put 2 coats on. (1 Z5 and 1 Z2)

I purposely didnt put a 3rd layer (Z2) on because I want something to do next weekend. ]

I took the car out today and boy!!!!! It looks brand new!!!!! And smooooooooooth to the touch too. Love it love it love it.

Yeah, the Z5's purpose is to get those scrathes and swirl marks, and man, let me tell ya, it works. I scratched my car on the claying process (My first time claying, but learned alot, will never make that mistake again), pretty big scrath too (but wasnt that deep thank God), but the Z5 made it disappear I was sooooo happy.

Can never stress enough.... your car has to be CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN before you clay. What caused my scratch was a piece of dirt on the door near the front wheel (where Minis get very dirty), got caught in the Clay bar and scratched the paint. Freaked me out, I was about to throw the clay bar up the street. Z5 fixed it though.

So I guess Z5 is there to fill in the gaps, and Z2 do the rest.

Have a question for you Aqualung.

What is your procedure for applying the Z2 monthly?

Do you wash with Z7, then apply Z2, and Z6? Are those your only steps?

Thats how I'm guessing I will do it.

Wow, CamelPilot - thanks! I've been watching this thread, hoping to find something like this.

One question: When you refer to "plastic" are you talking about the black matte parts, like the door sills and wheel arches? Is it okay or not to get any of these products on these areas? Don't want those white streaks you get from carnuba products.

Thanks again - great writeup!

I cannot really answer this question and be 100%. Instead, I'll tell you what I did.

I obviously asked myself this same question while I was detailing and therefore did tests, on my first (Z5) layer I put polish on ALL my plastic guard parts (the black plastic that goes along the bottom of the car). The Z5 wiped off ok, and the plastic was very clean and pretty, and then when I put Z6 on the plastic it made it even better!!!!. Then on the Z2 layer, after I applied and removed it, because the Z2 is pink, it did leave a little bit of light colouring to the plastic when I wiped it off, but then I applied the Z6 and it made the plastic shiny again.

I'm going to do further tests this weekend on how to do the plastic guards, and will update the writeup with what I find.

some of these long instructions make it seem like this zaino stuff is a pita. IT ISN'T.

2 years ago, i just dawn washed my car twice, z7 washed it twice, and used z1 and z2. car washes were 30 minutes tops. puttting on a layer of z1 followed immediately by a layer of z2 takes as long as you can carefully wipe a rag over the entire car twice.

i use z2 about once a month and z6 about twice a month. once you get the hang of it, it goes very quickly! i recently z1/z2'd again in a matter of minutes.......after the z2 dried, it took another few minutes to wipe it down with z6.

i only clayed the wheels, not the rest of the car.
