Tips for removing wax on plastic molding?

Anyone have some tips to remove wax marks on the arches or similar material of the car? Everytime I wash the car it will go away for a while but then come back. Thanks.

The first thing you should try is Dawn dish washing liquid. It is good for stripping wax and won't leave any residue. Typical car wash soaps are designed to leave the wax and remove the dirt. In fact, I wash my car with Dawn once a year. The rest of the time I use a car wash soap.
That should work. If it still won't come off, I think I have read that denatured alcohol will do the trick. But that I would test on an inconspicuous spot first.

Get some Pre-Wow, and also some Black-Wow
Both products made by Richard Linn, MINI detailer extraordinary.
Pre-Wow will clean up your balck plastic trim and Black-wow will treat it better than anything else on the maket.

I read somewhere on here that peanut butter works pretty good for removeing the wax residue and getting it back to black.

In for answers. The dealer got a small patch on the plastic roof drip trim... drives me nuts.

I heard you can just use a typical eraser
Tried it last week and it seemed to work very well. I applied Mothers Back-to-Black afterwards and the results are great so far

There is only one product you need for this problem:

http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-121-a...e-cleaner.aspx

It works every time without fail and no laborious rubbing.

I've found that one of those big, flat, pink erasers does a great job. You can buy one cheaply anywhere that school supplies are sold.

It does. Smooth not chunky. But it won’t make your arches black.

But Pre-WOW and Black WOW are great together and worth the investment as you use very little.

If you are serious about removing residue stuck on plastic..

WD40.

Hands down. Put it on a paper towel and go to work. At crevices, spray it on and watch wax residue melt away.

Even an Armor All Cleaning wipe will get it off.

Just tried the peanut butter method. Other than it being hard to get out of tight spaces, it worked amazing.

There will now be a jar of it in my detailing kit.

This actually does work great! I could not believe it when I first read it but then I tried it! You can remove the wax from the trim and have a snack at the same time!

I tried Black Wow on my last MINI, it looked good, but came off the next wash. Meguiar's lasted three times as long and came close to the look of Black Wow, but cost 1/3 the price.

The problem with Black Wow is that it's tricky. IMO Richard should have marketed it to the professional detailer versus the weekend warrior. You have to think of it like lotion and the plastic as skin. You have to rub the Black Wow into the plastic and then potentially come back for more depending on how far gone the plastic is. Also, it's not really that expensive when you think about it because you're only using a tiny, sesame sized amount each time. I've had the same bottle for at least 3 years.

I tried orange hand cleaner with pumice for cheaper and less work. After scrubbing the hand soap, I let it dry and rinced it our after a day. This leaves the plastic clean and oil free for Armorall or plastic wax application. Try orange pumice citrus hand cleaner! It works best in my opinion.

Another zone of wax contamination is the subtle white line around the belt line of my Clubman, which should be a thin black rubber line around the car, but keeps some wax and has the off-white line peeking out all around. It's been a while since I've addressed it, so I gotten used to the 'contamination'.
I used Pre-Wow sprayed on a 'car tooth brush', and I went around the car lightly scrubbing the boundary of paint and rubber and chrome trim.
It is impressive to get the good black contrast back! The car looks all better. :-)
