Can anyone recommend a good cleaner/process for removing the film that accumulates on the interiors of the windows? My Cooper seems to accumulate it faster than any other car I've owned. It's not like it bakes in the sun: the car lives in covered garages, and besides, it's in Seattle. Using Windex takes 2,3 4 times to get rid of the film, and there always seems to be some left anyway. Is there a better way?

While we're at it--how about the speedo and tach? I've held off doing anything beyond light dusting to avoid scratching the clear plastic. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

This stuff is Great for glass

and....

You should be able to find a great cleaner for plastic here.....

The above two links should help.
The Stoner IG does wonders.... I've been using this for over a year and really like the results.
I've used several Plastic lens cleaners and polishes but nothing I've used stands out. Also... Nothing I've used was for interior use.

Hope this helps.

I LOVE my Stoner's Invisible Glass. It is a gift from the gods. I use it on anything I can. Not only is it great at inside/outside windows and the speedo & tach, but did you know it is also GREAT at getting dirt off your door panels? You know those brown, dirty scuff marks from your shoes? Just spray on, wipe off clean. It's my favorite. Can be found at just about any car shop.

I've had great results with just using Windex and newspaper to clean all glass. I get that film as well. The windex usualy cuts through it and the newspaper reduces the amonia amounts in the liquid so it doesn't streak.

Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion on Stoner's Invisible Glass. I'll have to try that.

I've avoided newspaper because of comments about the glue in the paper, as well as the ink, which apparently make the cleaning effort greater than necessary. The glues resident in paper towel have a similar problem.

"Glass Wax" - comes in a pink rectangular tin can, found at most automotive shops, and any sort of plastic polish/cleaner.

The newspaper method is tried and true but be careful -- it's really for glass. Even newsprint can scratch the plastic on gauges and headlamp lenses (!) if you're not really careful.

I don't think that works as well as it used to (your showing your age!) - the enviro-friendly inks aren't as abrasive as the good old stuff - they don't polish the glass any more
