Window/Windshield Cloudiness?
Window/Windshield Cloudiness?
Hey all, I've been having this problem for awhile and it seems everything I try doesn't work to remove the cloudiness/streaking off the inside/outside of my windows and windshield. It's to the point that my morning drive to work is harder on me because the glare from the sun shows the cloudiness real bad.
Anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it or recommendations on what products to use? Thanks!

Windex, Armor All Glass Cleaner, Windex Streak Free with microfiber towels from Target (the orange/white ones). Most of it is inside the windows, but I have had problems with the outside before too but not as bad.
I've heard of the newspaper method but never tried it before.

Stoner's Invisible Glass works great for me. If your microfiber towel is suspect, Viva paper towels generally aren't too "linty" and might be used to rule out that it's your toweling that's leaving behind a residue.
I use Stoner's plus a clean microfiber and have good results.
And do it often; my MINI is still off-gassing whatever (new this year, plus 100+ ambient lately. Yes, I use a sunshade and leave windows open a bit).

my solution is ammonia, plain old ammonia mixed with water, like your mother used to use for cleaning
mix per the bottle
i use a sponge to wipe the glass with the ammonia solution and follow with another (different) sponge using clean water to rinse
i dry the glass with paper towels or a microfiber cloth
works far better than any of the commercial products and is a lot cheaper too

ps ... i got this trick from a professional auto detailer
my 2012 cms all4 is outgassing more than any other new car i have owned, and it is tough to clean

Interesting.. I haven't thought of the ammonia thing, maybe I will try it. I used Invisible Glass and newspaper over the weekend and it helped better than what I was doing (Armor All Glass Cleaner/Micofiber Cloth) and it helped a TON but there is still a bit of streaking. More elbow grease I assume will do the trick.

With invisible glass i need to spray to the window, wipe with a "wet" shop towel and buff out with a "dry" shop towel.
For example i spray the windsheild (half at a time) wipe the excess product off after it sits for 15-20 seconds with my wet towel (i use scotts blue paper towel. it is a low lint towel) and then immediately buff that section out with the dry towel. the dry towel should be good for the entire windshield (inside and out) but use a new wet towel on each section.
Also, to those using ammonia: dont use it on tinted windows. the ammonia will get under the tint and lift it (bubbles)
It wasnt mentioned earlier, but use a clay bar on the exterior of the window (with clay lube) and then use your stoners glass. apply rainX after that and use water and a new rag to polish that out. do that and you have nice windows for 6-12 months!
