Detailing and a Clear Bra
Detailing and a Clear Bra
Hello all! I'm soon to be the new owner of a PW/PW MCS and had a couple of questions about the Prima product line. I am going to be getting a clear bra installed and was wondering which products would be best to use on it. After reading many threads I was going to try the Hydro Wash/Hydro Seal/Hydro line of products but I wanted to make sure that would be OK with the Clear bra.
Any Help or wisdom is appreciated.
I must keep my new MINI spotless.

Treat your clearbra just like you treat the paint. You can and should polish and wax it. Just be careful of the edges. Move your buffer pad or hand away from the edges, not toward the edges.
I normally put tape over the edges of mine just to make sure I don't cause any edges to lift up.

What products do you use for detailing?
I use the Prima line of polishes and waxes....
Cut
Swirl (usually combine those two for my first pass with the buffer)
Amigo
Finish
Banana Gloss
Epic
And Hydro for my quick detail but I also use Griot's Speed Shine sometimes for that job.

Caring for Clearbra
Full disclosure: I work for a paint protection film company that makes these film products.
Plexus is a definite no-no when it comes to urethane films. Here's an picture of some accelerated weather testing that was done on raw urethane (the left one was untreated, while the right one was treated with Plexus:

As for caring for paint protection films, the rule of thumb is to steer clear of any products with petroleum distillates (like kerosene, naptha, and toluene). Unfortunately, these are common in many of today's synthetic paint waxes. Petroleum distillates will dry out the film, open the pores and eventually turn it into a big "dirt sponge." This is often the cause of yellowed clearbras.
To make sure that you do not have any issues, stick with a purpose made product or a natural wax, like carnuba.
