Help! Clear Coat scratches
Help! Clear Coat scratches
I recently removed the emblems off of my '12 Clubman S. When I removed the rest of the adhesive left on, I ended up scratching up the clear coat really good (I can post pics if needed). Its looks good when the car is dirty and unnoticeable till I wash the car! I should add that the paint color is metallic black. Any suggestion on how I can fix this?
If you're not deep in the paint they can be polished out.
Try a hand Polish. If that doesn't do it, you'll need a power buffer, random orbital of course. If you don't have one and don't want to invest in one... take it to a local detailer.

Try Meguiars Scratch X first. Start with the least harsh alternative before moving on to anything else. It the works well in very light surface scratches. Make sure to wax the area after to protect it. Good luck.

How did you remove the emblems? As others have mentioned, light scratches can greatly improved by using a hand applied polish. Prima Swirl is great for this or the off the shelf Meguiar's Scratch X.
I recently debadged our 2012 Convertible S and had to do a bit of wetsanding and compounding to remove some of the scratches. So it depends on how well you removed the badges and what tools you used to remove them.
