I am concerned that my mirror caps will turn yellowish i have seen a few minis which have these yellow tinted caps.. anyone know how i can prevent this?

 

white caps on my August delivered 07 are still white

white caps on the 02 I had for 6 years never yellowed and that car sat outside while my 7 has always been garaged

clean 'em .... WAX 'em ... remove old wax b4 you wax 'em again . . if they look dirty after a regular wash then strip wax, polish/clay, then wax

 

What Capt said ^ Mine have been on the car for about three years (previous owner installed them) and they are not one bit yellowed.

Worst case scenario...just replace them. They aren't that expensive. But proper cleaning and waxing will help prevent yellowing.

 

Mine are 4 years old and no yellowing has occured.

 

Try using a cleaner with UV protection, like 303 Aerospace Protectant.

 

The Clear Bra that was applied to my White Mirror Caps turned Yellow but the rest of them stayed as white as they were brand new!!

The Chrome Mirror Caps Molly is wearing now are so much easier to keep clean, even without Clear Bra!!

 

Mine were replaced after they turned yellow 2 years ago by the PO free of charge by the dealer.

Only the DS is now turning a bit yellow again:(

 

My checkered caps are starting to yellow on top now :-(

 

I've had 2 MINIs with these mirrors, and they both yellowed on top, but not on the bottom.

Just pulled mine off to replace with them my Astro Black

Anyone have any success in getting the whites white on the checkered mirror covers?

 

UV yellowing under the clear coat is the issue, I'm not sure how one could get it back to white.
