Waxing black wheels

I’ve got factory black Crown Spokes on my MINI. I’ve been waxing them with a good quality carnauba paste wax. Lately, I’ve read some posts on other forums (not NAM) that suggest that the effect of heat transfer from the brakes to the wheels may make the carnauba less than optimal for this particular application. Opinions? Suggestions?

Never even considered waxing wheels - they don't need it - powder coat will never fade. The body paint on the MINI still beads up water after a year - so I see no reason to wax it yet either. When I do wax a rig, I like the Meguire's Tech Wax 2.0

I wax my wheels every few weeks, it really helps with the massive amount of break dust the MINI puts out.

Your right though, the heat on a wheel will break down a regular wax in no time, you need to use something made specifically for wheels.

I use Prima's Wheel Armour. It works great.

The wheel on the left had just been waxed, it puts a nice deep gloss on it.

It works nicely on calipers too.

Do It Yourself

It's so simple to prove to yourself what works. Wax one front wheel with the product of your choice and leave the other one alone. See if you can tell the difference.
