How often do you wash and wax your Cooper?
Adams Polishes FTW!!! i just got onto them a few months ago and couldnt be happier. I thought autoglym was great haha......
this is my washing process, i try and get it done every week, sometimes more if it rains. So far i havent had any new swirls (besides what the dealer put in
) Im soon going to correct the paint so time will only tell if my method is safe enough that it doesnt put the swirls BACK in....i dont think so as im pretty **** about it as you can see and always wash my towels/mits after every wash and have back ups of them just incase i drop them on the ground....if they drop they are done and get exiled to door jambs never to return to paint haha
Here is my current washing process:
1)Tires
2)Wheels
3)Pre-Rinse
4) immediate foam cannon (let sit for 3-5 minutes)
5)Rinse
6)Foam Cannon (let sit for 2 or so minutes)
7)Wash car with adams high quality Mit using two bucket method with grit guard's
8)Rinse
9)Take nozzle off and and carefully hose car down from top to bottom with a laminar flow of water(sheeting method)
10) Immediately spray entire car down with Adams quick detailer
11) Use large CLEAN Adams waffle towel constantly folding working from top to mid then switch to 2nd clean towel to dry mid down.
12)Dry Door Jams
13)Clean Windows
14)Dry Tires
15)Add Tire Dressing

Washing times and products...
Hello...I try to keep my girl washed every other week. i use the meguiars show soap for washing and I just tried out the eagle one nano wax and trim shine. I have to give them a thumbs up! Here is how she looks after a week in Seattle and it has rained for the past 5 days since washing..
My routine
I wash my cars once a week using Kit Car wash which I've been using for years and seems easy on the wax.
1) Once a year I use Meguiars #7 Showcar glaze which seems to smooth the paint surface and adds depth.
2) I use a good paste wax like NXT 2.0 and then top it with a carnuba wax.
After each washing I use Nano Wax spray which leaves a nice shine. I find that I only have to do 1 and 2 once a year. Once in awhile if I'm motivated I'll use carnuba rather than the Nano wax.

I wash my R50 whenever it gets dirty. Sometimes, depending on weather, that's 3 or 4 times a week. Usually though it's twice a week; a thorough home-spa day on the weekend and a quickie mid-week. (wash and towel-dry).
In the winter (I'm in rural new England), I take it to a touch-free wash and give it The Works at least once a week; more if conditions dictate.
As for waxing; depends on the product. i like to keep it protected. So at least once in the spring as soon as it's warm enough and enough washings have purged the road salt and sand out of the moldings, then again mid-summer, then again before it gets too cold in the autumn.

I recently washed/waxed/polished my cooper, and upon being complimented on my job with it by my employer, he explained to me something that I had never heard before and I wanted to find out more. He told me that I should be very carefully (pressure wise) waxing the car, and very infrequently. I said,...huh? I'm no pro at this, but I know how to make a car shine, and I like mine to shine often. But my boss explained that with the clear coat, if I wax too hard and too often, the wax can actually damage the clear coat and ruin it. I thought wax was supposed to protect the clear coat? Again, I'm no expert, so I'm seeking clarification from those who are. My boss is a very "in tune" car guy, so I value what he has to say. I'm in the habit of waxing the car every single time I wash it (again, shine factor). During the winter months (I live in NJ), I can't, for obvious reasons, do this process often at all, however during the summer, I may do it twice every 6 weeks or so. Any elaboration on this is appreciated.

You are corect, a wax does protect your finish if done properly. Just make sure you use a clean high quality MF applicator and cloth's to remove the wax.
