What can I do to protect the door edge when my wife hits the door edge of our MC against another car? Are there any clear protection strips? Any help would be appreciated. (P.S. I can't get rid of my wife to solve the problem).

The clear 3M strip for the door edges should work fine but you still have to be a little careful not to be too rough and bang of things. It looks pretty good and will hold up well.

Hitting someone's car with your car door certainly seems like a correctible behavoir. If not, I sure hope the door edge guards keep the dents out of the other persons car.

A couple of weeks ago someone slammed their door into the drivers side door of my Lumina to the tune of $860 in damages. They of course drove away without leaving a note or anything.

Behavorial training, not door edge guards.

The is still the ultimate prevention against dings!!

Last year I received the suprise of my life when a guy dinged my bumper in the Lowes parking lot. He actually came into the store and had me paged!! I could not believe it. That was the first and last time a "ding-perpetrator" actually owned up to redecorating my car!

I purchased door edge guards at the local parts store. They come in black and chrome. The can be cut and fit well. The can be taken off with no damage to the paint. Cannot remeber the name of them, but have seen then at most "box" stores also.

Hope this helps.

The solution is a change in behavior by your wife. Understandably you don't want to confront her with the problem, but you hold no choice. What about the people who she will be opening her door into? What is their protection? What about the damage done to their vehicles? Take some responsibility and tackfully talk to her about. The door edge protection is only the fix for a much bigger problem. For the reason of people like you wife I gladly and thoughtfully park all by myself when in a parking lot. Innumerablel spaces away from everyone else. If that is not possible I find and end stall and park as to one side as legal or into the yellow line when they are angled!

So be responsible and talk to your wife about the problem.
