Anyone use Goo Gone on leatherette seats?
I personally have not yet used Goo Gone on the Leatherette seats of both of our MINIs, so I can't conform on its safety. However, if it is a simple *spot* clean should not do harm if wiped out right away. I recommend a Vinyl cleaner/enhancer called Vinylex by Lexol which has cleaning properties and it is formulated for vinyl, platic and rubber. You can get it at any autoparts store.
Do you have gum on your seat?

>>It's a clear residue that was there when I boaught the car last month. I did not notice it till i got home- barely noticable, so I'm being **** probably
Raider, BTW congrats on your new '04 Cooper CVT.
I would say that Goo Gone is a bit too agressive based on your description. I recommend getting Vinylex and give it a try, if the spot can't be removed, I would take the car back to the dealer and have them replace the seat cover under warranty.
Good luck.
