1/2 pint of paint sounds like a lot! Do they also supply clear coat? I am also not liking the sandpaper part!
clearcoat is a 2-3 part system so you have to buy a qt. min.

you may want to take a chance at the color match from the dealer. It sounds like that would be the easiest way for your situation and skill level.

My skill level is why I was looking into a system that provides all the components and 'easy to follow' instructions. I definitely do not need a quart of clearcoat for a few paint chips!

I think I'm going to buy the Dr Colorchip stuff. If it works, great, if not I don't have a lot of unused stuff to get rid of and I'm not out a lot of $$$.

I think the problem is that I live in the NE. Down your way people and businesses are a lot more accommodating. It seems a lot of businesses these days just don't give a darn unless there's big bucks in it for them.

Langka kit

I recently purchased a Langka Kit and am very satisfied with the results. You also do have to purchase the Touch-up paint from dealer but I repaired 6 small and 1 large chip in a couple of hours. If you get up close (within a foot or 2) you can notice an irregularity in the smoothness but from more than a couple of feet away the color matches perfect and you cant see the spot. I have to say it looks much better without the chips than with.

Thanks! That's about how many & the sizes of the chips I need to cover, too. The only thing that turned me off about Langka is the fact that while it is still about the same price as the other two options/kits, you need to buy the touch up paint separately so it ends up being more $$$.

Sorry to resurrect. Good info here. I just got dinged badly. I used Langka a long time ago on a used car and found out the hard way that the previous owner (dealer) had used a paint that langka removed like paint thinner! Minis ought not to have that problem.

Thanks for the 2000grit wet sand info. I have some for polishing knives, I'll use that to flatten things out. I'll test it on a spot inside the door first...

Hi all!
While not happy with the fact, I too join the long list of folks whom are OCD about paint chips. Having the MCS for only the last 5 months I have collected 3-4 paint chips, the latest was last night. A small (eraser sized) chip in the front Aero bumper area, near the black bottom plastic rim. Yes, I can see it when I am 2 feet from the car so it MUST be repaired!
Looking into this as a DIY project seems kind of fun. I do appreciate everyone's thoughts on this forum. Will give feedback on this issue once I have completed the task.

I have had perfect, invisible chip touch-up using the factory paint kit and the LANGKA Kit.

How much work is involved?

I see that you had great results with the LANGKA kit. How much elbow grease did it take to remove the blob of excess paint from the surface after it had dried? I ask this because I have a ton of rock chips on the front of my bonnet and wanted a good solution to fix them.

I followed the directions in the Langka kit and removed the blob with the squeegy and cloth prior to it drying completely. Probably after an hour in 75-80 degree temps. Let it sit for a little longer and then rubbed it out with the polish (which removed a little more of the blob), finished polishing and then applied the sealer. From 2' away you cant see the chip but if you look closely you will notice a small irregularity in the paint. Great results. Did I mention I used the small paint kit from dealer. I have used the kit 3 differant times now and the original repairs still look great as well as the more recent repairs.
