The Proof is in...

Today was the day to put things to the test - two hours of driving in the rain. As I have stated before, My Mini Cooper has two coats of Epic, two coats of Banana Gloss, and I use Hydro after shampooing with Mystique. That techniques includes all the glass - all the glass.

I drove in the rain for two hours and here is the breakdown by area and the amount of water:
Windshield - Very little water
Side glass - zip
Dual moon roofs - minuscule
The rear glass got the most

During the entire trip the only time the windshield wipers were turned on was after leaving the highway and reducing speed. After the two hour trip at speed, in the rain, the car still looked great upon arrival at my destination.

Glad to hear the detailing held up. Yikes about that DISTENTION!

The one time I didn't proof and edit before posting...
It probably won't be the last time, I'm sure.

I'm intrigued. Those sound like miraculous wax products! I've really got to get off my butt and get some wax on my baby. The weather really never gets bad here. Just a little rain in the winter months of January and February. I'm more interested in getting the car so slippery that dust doesn't even take root on the finish. Will Epic help with that? If I wax my car with it, will it let the dust blow off when I drive away?

I've got a whole bottle of Meguiar's Gold Class. I'm thinking of using that before I go and buy anything else. But with as much chatter as I've seen about Epic, I wonder if I should stock up on that next time around...

ok, so the glass looked good. How about the Paint? Did the roof bead better or worse than the sunroof? (not that it matters, I am sure with 4 coats of wax it looks fantastic)

AvidMINI, put down that bottle of Gold Class and get yourself some Epic. This stuff is amazing. I put a first coat on my baby yesterday, and it looks BETTER than when I picked it up. I'm planning on a second coat today. Your CR will be stunning, heads will turn, women will ooh and aahhh, you'll find yourself staring and staring at your car (as if you don't already).

Find someone with a car not so nice and give them that bottle of Gold Class. Epic rocks.

That's an endorsement if I ever heard one!

Thanks. Maybe I can find another use for the Meguiar's wax. My bike looks kinda sad these days...

You especially deserve the Epic after having to have that paint flaw fixed in your driver's door!

Epic & Hydro. My two favorite car care products ever. I'm even thinking of giving some as Christmas gifts. Seriously.

In that event, my mailing address is...

Yeah, I really want to give my "Wee Beast" some much-needed TLC. I want to take care of this ASAP. From what I've gathered, you can only get the Epic & Hydro online, correct?

Unless you want to make the drive down to OG's shop, Show Car Detailing, perhaps catch a clinic in the process....

Good thinking! Maybe I could offer my car as a test subject.

Nah, on second thought, it will be fun taking it on myself. Wouldn't mind a few helpful hints though. Missed the clinic on 9/13. Maybe I'll catch the next. Where in the heck is Placentia? I'm relatively new to California.

It's Southern California--about a 9 hour drive south of the Bay area, lol. Not sure what part of NorCal you are from.

I'm adjacent to Disneyland. I've had people drive down from Las Vegas and fly in from other states to attend my clinics, it's definitely worth a visit if you're in town...as many have told me. =)

I'll be happy to give you hands on demos of all the Prima products, including the use of machine buffers. Some people have even had the chance to help me work on a car while they were visiting. =P

I'm all about that. I love the idea of learning the proper way to use equipment, and how to determine which product to use and when it's appropriate.

Placentia is pretty far for me. I'm in Sacramento. But I sure will keep your offer in mind the next time I'm in SoCal. I'm long overdue for a visit. I've got a friend in Silver Lake.

In the meanwhile, I'll probably go ahead and order a basic "kit" to get the ball rollin'.

And go visit the Detailing forum, where you can learn more than you ever wanted to know about proper car care.

I would never have known otherwise that the old "wax on, wax off" technique is bad, that sponges are bad, that old bath towels are bad, all about claybar, why Windex is probably not the best product to use on your windows, etc. The information in that forum has completely changed how I clean my car, hopefully all for the better.

Thanks for the tip. You know I will! I read up on the Epic and was surprised to read that you leave it on the car until it's completely dry. That's a good thing, as I usually get tuckered out applying the wax! It'll give me a chance to relax before I wipe it off.

I use Stoner "Invisible Glass" on my windows. It seems to work well. I'm having to deal with tree sap, bug pee and a ton of gritty dust in the air here in Sacramento. Sometimes, rain is good!
