Original Engine Matches VIN?

I'm selling my Justa and a prospective buyer wants proof that it's the original engine.

How can I tell if my engine is original?

I know of no way... I even don't know if the factory Build Sheet would have that information on it.

Anyone?

Motor on!

Shouldn't you be proving a new motor?
This guy must have more than just a hat on backward

I know. I can't figure it out either. It's not like it has to be a numbers-matching classic car. It's a 2006 Mini Cooper! I'm the third owner and I didn't even think of asking the seller if it was the original engine.

Plus wouldn't it be better if the engine WAS replaced? Then it would have less wear and tear than the original.

Now you know the negotiationion tatictic...
No matter your answer...her will explain he has to pay less...
Different motor..not matching numbers car...same motor...too high miles...
Think you are dealing with an "interesting fellow".... Be very careful...
Think he just wants you to feel you don't know and thus feel bad and lower the price...after you joump through hoops and invest time in getting him the info...
Thus you have spent time on the sale...and WANT him to buy it...he will offer less so you take it..thinking if you don't, you wasted your time, and get 0$ for it....
Remind him, all sales are as is, no warrenty...it is what you see, and any info you tell him may or may not be true, its just what you believe to be true. Tell him what you know...and step back...he is trying to find a way to get the upper hand...be strong, be firm.
He might be the right buyer, maybe not...there will be others.
For some buying cars is like a chess game...trying get a " deal" to flip to make a $$. Some just want a weak negotiateor so they can get a deal, then sell at fair market price....

Thanks, Zippy. But we've already agreed on a price. If she (her boyfriend brought up the engine numbers) doesn't want it after I tell her there is no way to verify the engine, I'll just walk away.

There was a sticker on the back of the valve cover that would have the VIN if original , but after a while those stickers can fall off. Its a white sticker on the back side near the firewall on the valve cover I believe.

Good luck on the sale.
