Free Samples of Black Wow?

I am still undecided on what kind of product to use on the black trim. I have read about Black Wow and it seems to work well, but the price is two, three or even four times the cost of other products on the market. And it's only 4 ounces.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get any free samples of this product to see how it works. I hate to spend $25.00 for a product that does its job but doesn't "wow" me!

......the anticipated savings on the purchase of this MINI are slowly ebbing away with all the fun stuff I've been buying!!! I gotta start drawing the line!

I am one of the people who will highly recommend it. 4 oz will last you a REALLY long time. I would expect my bottle of BW to outlast my mini. Seriously.

I doubt that OctaneGuy has time to mail out samples. So let me help you with my opinion.

I know that it seems expensive but it truly is worth it - BW and Hydro are the 2 things I see most often touted here on NAM and it is for a good reason. I think that the $25 I spent on this was well worth it....you do get what you pay for.

If this leaves you unconvinced maybe there is a NAM member near you who might be able to let you use a bit. I would if you were up here in the hills of NH but you're not....

If you don't have Hydro or Black Wow just go to Detailersparadise.com or showcardetailing.com and buy just those 2 things. It will make you very happy that you did.

Hope this helps!

richs10 - here's what you do. On Wednesday drive to Colorado and attend MITM. I will let you try all the BW you want - for free! Think of the savings!
See you there.

jsarge, I already have a Hydro addition to contend with. Its pretty fantastic, I admit.

MiniMayBee, the MINI gets great gas mileage, but I think the savings would be eaten up with the motel and diner expenses!

BW is expensive on a "per-ounce" basis, but you'll be amazed at how long the bottle will last you. I've used it for all of the exterior black trim on three different MINIs, and the bottle is still full almost up to the shoulder. And that's even with using more than I should have the first time I tried it.

I'd suggest that you give it a try and if you don't like it, you could sell the rest here on NAM, but unfortunately, anyone that already has some and knows how great it is probably isn't going to be in the market for their next bottle until 2014 or so..

If you send me a self-addressed stamped envelope with your address, I will send you a sesame seed sized drop (recommended application size).

I was skeptical too, but I liked the product after buying the bottle and trying it. It seems to be holding up very well.

Honestly, most of our detailing indulgences are just that, indulgences. Some are more indulgent than others. Time and money, sometimes we lack in both, but are fortunate and hard-working enough to be able to splurge every now and then.

Black Wow smells really good too and, like many Prima products, has an otherworldly glow in the bottle.

Indulgence in the care and feeding of the MINI is simply not an option (for me). Kids go off to college, dogs dig holes in your back yard and fish float belly up, but my MINI just keeps on keeping on - and looking damn good to boot!
BTW, Black WOW is not a Prima product it is from OctaneGuy (Richard Linn) though he sells it through many sources now.

The kids still here with us for another 8 or 9 years unless we ship her off to Swiss Military boarding School. We're still looking into that.

I'd rather our dogs leave holes than the deposits they frequently leave us.

No fish.

I stand corrected, all praise to Octane Guy/Richard,who did a great job with Black WOW. I loved reading his product development thread.

It does have a nice scent and a cool glow though.

I sure hope Black WOW is great. After reading these posts I just spent $31.95 to have a bottle shipped! But I know my MINI is well worth it!

maybe its just me...

but black wow didnt do everything I expected it to. While it is true that it did a pretty good job of making my trim black again, after about 2 days the wax spots that were on the trim came back. Getting rid of the wax marks was my main reason for getting the stuff, but aside from that it did a good job.

A friend of mine recommended turtle wax ice gel (will double check). His car just won a local show so he knows what he is doing...

Wax on the black plastic trim pieces needs to be removed not covered up.
Peanut butter was mentioned and I've heard of a few other methods to remove wax, I personally use WD-40 on just about everything.
After you have removed the wax completely is when you would want to bring back the luster of the black plastic pieces with Black Wow.

The problem with wax on trim is that it gets into the pores and dries. You can wipe it off, but it is still there waiting to turn white again.
BW will completely remove any wax or polish residue it comes in contact with. The key is to get it in contact. That means you really need to scrub with something like a DP blue skinny pad to work the residue out of the pores. If you fail to, it will turn white again and you will need more scrubbing. The difficulty in the white marks is the location.

Ok, that is what I need to hear, I will give it another shot.

Update on the Peanut Butter Solution:
I used peanut butter on the wax residue areas on Saturday morning. Worked it in with an old toothbrush. Then washed the car and used Hydro as I usually do.

This is Tuesday, and none of the white residue has reappeared.
I am very happy!

(BTW, last weekend I tried rubbing alcohol but it did almost nothing to the white spots.)

Its only money. In my garage you will find a very large cabinet full on detailing materials that I just can't seem to bring myself to throw away. It would be difficult to estimate the dollars in that cabinet. Some wowed some did not.

Go for it, what do you have to lose? You won't know how wowed you shall be if you don't try it.
