Wednesday Is Not Prince Spaghetti Day ...Its Hydro Day ...

Wednesday is my day off and the day I most often get to wash my car. I really look forward to Wednesdays ...there is something especially gratifying about cleaning the MINI. I don't think I've ever been so fond of or attached to any other possession before.

We've got a very large tree that provides great shade in the driveway. So, I keep the car in the garage until the sun is overhead and the shade is in the right spot and then I have at it.

The neighbors that walk by all think I'm nuts ...one guy even said I was just watering it all the time to see if it would grow. You gotta' admit, that's pretty funny. But that guy has a Boxster and he drags it through the car wash every time the car is the slightest bit dirty. I tried to get him to see the light ...but no such luck.

Oh well. They can think I'm nuts ...I don't care ...I'm havin' too damn much fun.

Hydro rocks.

Dean.

Looks great! I'm envious of your Wednesdays. It looks like it was a beautiful day too.

Hydro can also be used as a fertilizer to help things grow (like MINIs). (just kidding!)

I'm thrilled to hear you're enjoying your Hydro.

minimonsterthunder,

Where in Norwalk are you?

My office is at 464 Westport Avenue behind Hanks Mays.

I wonder if we've waved ?!

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Is that the MINI of Fairfiled County event being held in New Canaan? I'm really hoping to make it, but so far it doesn't look good.

With you working in Wilton and my driving through Wilton to and from work, I'd imagine we've crossed paths. I'll keep an eye out now that I know what your MINI looks like.

Your car looks great! My husband laughs because I've washed my Mini more times than I've washed all my other cars combined.

I have sort of a lame question, but since we are talking about Hydro, I thought I'd ask. I have some Hydro, but haven't used it yet. I'm a little anxious about it. I have never used any sort of wax product and I'm wondering if it really is that easy to use.

Basically, is there any technique that needs to be used when applying the Hyrdo? I'm a first time detailer, help!

I think I'm qualified to answer since I've gone through a gallon and a half of it, so far.

Yeah, it really is *that* easy to use.

Although you can use it as a QD (spray it on clean, dry car and wipe off), I prefer to use it after washing only. I sheet the water off the car after washing, leaving just a small amount of droplets behind. Then I sprits the Hydro all over the car. Then I simply dry with a waffle weave towel, as usual.

I've found you can REALLY get a great shine if you then go back with a Monster Fluffy microfiber towel and give it a quick buffing.

You'll love the result !!

That is exactly my process ( except I spritz ) and the results are fantastic.

I've gotten very good at that. When I'm out and about I always look for an end parking space and then get as close to the curb as I can. You gotta' leave lots of room for the inevitable Bozo that parks too close and then flings the door open.

My wife hates it though ...because she is always exiting the car onto the curb rather than the pavement. I don't leave her any room.

Dean.

Looks great. Is that just Hydro, or do you have other wax on it also?

It's been washed six times since I used Epic ...which seems to hold up extremely well when Hydro-aided.
