Drought Declaration Detailing/Car Washing Strategies
Drought Declaration Detailing/Car Washing Strategies
Here in CA Herr Governator has declared a drought. It is suspected that one result of this edict will be limitations on car washing (not to mention another attempt to push a peripheral canal to dewater Northern California in favor of Southern California). Many of you have gone through drought conditions and declarations. Any tips on getting and/or keeping the Cooper clean under these circumstances?
Don't know yet. The governor has ceded rulemaking authority to the California Water Resources Board which has not yet published its rules.
Has no impact on minimum fish flows - those are federal court decisions and regulations that have precedence over State Rules and Regulations.

I use about the same amount on the MINI without having to use a pressure washer. My concern is they will stop all home car washing.

Yes, washing a MINI doesn't require alot of water necessarily. In Florida a few years back you had to wash your car on the lawn, presumably to cut down on water needed for irrigation. Ordinarily I'd just say wash it and then keep up as best you can with a duster and good QD....that might at least stretch time between washes.

Actually you can rinse the MINI twice--prerinse, soap, rinse off soap with less than 3 gallons of water. Although the Nomad Pressure Washer isn't necessary to stay within limits, many people in drought areas are finding the Nomad as a simple way to prove that they are using the "approved" amount of water.
You can fill the Nomad with store bought distilled water, and fill a 3.5 gallon bucket with water and put soap in it. Then use any location as a washing place and not be tied to an electrical outlet or water source..haha like maybe inside your garage out of view?? =P

If it ever rained where you live, you could get a rain barrel and use that water for washing - that's what I did when we had car washing prohibitions here last year... and get the Nomad washer from Richard (I used a pump-up sprayer - a pain, but works).
maybe this? they have a towel dedicated for this product as well...

i think im going to try the kit. sometimes i have to drive over some
smaller puddles which needs cleaning, but does not constitue an entire
wash session which could take me up to an hour... and then more time to
dry the car completely.

yah, i think they put more slickness into the QD and some detergent.
hummmm.... not sure about using it too often on the boot of the MINI.
it gets pretty sandy back there. i was thinking more of like using it
just for kickups.
wow....that kit looks extremely dangerous for your paint.
heck...i'm washing my car today. as soon as the california sun cools down (near evening).
i would just wash the car normally with water. arnold can buzz off.
and if you get in trouble for washing your car, just look for sarah & john connor. they should be in the phonebook.
