Newbie to *proper* detailing. Pics inside.

I've always taken reasonable care when cleaning my cars and motorbikes (Detailing US style wasn't really done in Europe until very recently), but my missus hasn't. So with the purchase of an 06 MCS (mainly for her) I thought it would be a good excuse to show her how.

So this afternoon we took the car from this :

to this :

Using nothing but Meguiars Gold Class and the two bucket method, then a follow up with Meguiars QD. Oh and yes, I changed the wheels over too, as the fronts need new tyres. I know it's nothing compared to some of the work you OCD folks put in, but we're pleased.

It's our daily driver, and I don't know the cars previous washing history, but there's some swirling that's noticeable in sunlight, so I'm planning a trip to see OctaneGuy in the near future, so she can see how to really look after a car, which should enable me to splurge on some nice products for keeping it sparkly

Thanks, clean cars certainly look good from a distance, but I know it's not really *really* clean. Can't wait until it gets the SCD treatment...

Cheers, I like them on, and the tyres are much grippier than OEM and no more noisy for the 1 inch upgrade, although I did notice a that they're quite a bit heavier than the others.

Having two sets of wheels makes for cheap and easy tyre changes too.

Sounds great...and looks it too! We'll make it a teaching day as well as polishing/detailing day. =)

Looks nice. Also - good job on aligning the angle of the two photos. It makes before and after so much more obvious.

Looks good. You should have used a clay bar to get rid of the dirt deep in the paint followed by some Meguires Polish to kill the swirl marks

Give me your zip code and I'll tell you exactly how long it will take, if you'd like.

You don't really notice how filthy the car is until it's had a proper bath. Looks nice!

Does anyone have mud flaps on the rear wheels? The back side gets dirty pretty quickly.
