New Service at SCD--**CAUTION** Might be Painful for Some!
New Service at SCD--**CAUTION** Might be Painful for Some!
I'm offering a new service as part of my details.
For this month, I'm offering a free photo scan for anyone that stops by with their defect--bird poo etching, key scratch, unknown defect, etc.. I'll blow it up 50x in color and make a 4x6 print or send you a JPEG for free. =)

Rock Chip on Yellow MINI
Absolutely!!
The idea isn't to scare but inform what you can't see. Wouldn't you want to know if a defect is rusting but you can't see it? Wouldn't you want to know if a problem with your paint is correctable or not?
To me it's fascinating to see things that you can't normally see. For me, this rock chip gives plenty of info about the nature of the damage and what needs to be done to repair it before it gets worse if left untouched.
This also gives a nice closeup view of the swirls in your paint before and after. It gives new meaning to your car being a "5 footer". lol.
But for those that want as perfect a finish as possible, what this does is give you a reasonable expectation of your paint. If you keep polishing and thinning or even "wetsanding" a defect hoping to get rid of it--I can show you with thie technology that it won't make a difference before you attempt such a repair and potentially make it worse.

Take this for instance:
It's what the Fireball Tim Carbon Fiber wing looked like before polishing

Not very pretty huh? But after polishing, it looks nearly flawless!

This reminds me the parts of Ren & Stimpy cartoons where they'd show a detailed close up of something incredibly disgusting.

Exactly!!!
Mark, me too!! LOL. Now I can show what lives on our MINI!!! LOL
Nope, can't be buffed, and it illustrates why you can't--it's a chasm in the paint! Course the swirls around it, water spots, and light scratches can be fixed, but the serrated edges on that key scratch will need paint.
The point of these photos is to show people, especially newbies why things like rock chips, key scratches, even bird poo etchings are not possible to be fixed by paint removal techniques. While we would all love for everything to be fixable by polishing, the reality of it is that it "depends" on the severity of the problem. And for things like bird poo, if a person realizes that the extent of the damage can be controlled by how quickly they remove the offending acid, instead of letting it sit for days--maybe they will think twice next time about cleaning it.
I intend to illustrate these types of things.
