Prima Swirl

Question:

I just used Prima Swirl today (previously used Finish on my motorcycle as it only needed a light amount of swirl love). Was working on the girlfriend's car and shook up my bottle of Swirl really well, then applied it to my PC pad. Curious .. is Swirl supposed to look like Milk of Magnesia? I was expecting a toothpaste like consistency and what came out was a runny liquid.

Just wondering if that's supposed to be the correct consistency.

Swirl is fairly liquid. It should be about the same consistency as Finish. Cut on the other hand is very thick.
I have a bottle of 50% Swirl and 50% Cut that I mixed up when I need something a bit more aggressive. Cut is so thick it is hard to work without glazing your pad and slinging all over the place. The 50/50 mix is nice because it allows me to get a more aggressive polish, but still is easy to work with.

Hum, Swirl comes out more like skim milk, where Finish is a nice cream (more like I'm used to for a polish).

Here's what swirl looks like on my polish pad.

You can see that Swirl is soaking into the pad. I'm just making sure this is correct consistency for this product.

I'm also going to take your advice on mixing cut with swirl MiniMaybee, and try a few test spots on my buddy's car.

Oh, sure. Try it out on someone else's car.

That is not at all what my Swirl looks like. It is definitely a more consistent product, like a lotion or watery toothpaste.

There was a bad manufacturing batch of Swirl out there--I've been replacing my customers bottles with new ones. If anyone has bought the Swirl from me, send me a PM and your invoice # and I'll get a replacement out to you as soon as my replacement inventory arrives.

If you aren't sure if you got a bad bottle, just shake it, and if it sounds like water, it needs to be replaced.

I wouldn't mix the Swirl with Cut. The proper consistency of Swirl is thick and pasty, not fluid. I sent the OP a PM, but since he also has Finish, he probably didn't buy it from me--since I haven't sold a bottle of Finish or Cut in ages, lol.

Fortunately, it was not an entire batch. But yes, we've just discovered that most of a case (around 150 bottles) of our Swirl has this liquidy consistency issue. We believe that the sterile seal on the case of empty bottles was likely broken prior to the bottles being filled with Swirl, which caused a contamination issue. The contamination caused Swirl to become liquidy.

Fortunately it's an isolated situation with just a small amount of Swirl and we found most of it before it was shipped. However, it seems a few have slipped through. My apologies that we didn't catch yours!

jimmieshear- Please PM me and we'll switch it out for you ASAP. Anyone else who may find this issue, please contact me ASAP and we'll get it fixed for you.

Indeed, Swirl should be somewhat thick and definitely not the consistency of water. If anyone has any other questions about this, please post here and I'll answer your questions.

First, as Richard advised, do not mix the liquidy Swirl that you have, jimmieshear, with Cut. You need a new bottle of Swirl. Cut won't fix the problem.

Second though, in normal situations it can be very useful to mix Finish and/or Swirl and/or Cut to achieve a half-step between your polishes. We do this ourselves often, if the situation benefits from it (as MiniMaybe described).

So in summary, definitely feel free to mix between Finish, Swirl and or Cut; however, if you have a watery bottle of Swirl contact me and get a new one.

Thanks for the response folks, that's why NAM is so great, you get a lot of support and info.

Heather, reply sent via PM, thanks for taking care of me!

Thanks Richard helping restore my sanity, thought there might be something odd going on with that bottle.

Gee, I am wondering, since I have been using Swirl in its watery consistency, I probably will have to adjust my technique to the new consistency. It might cut down my polishing time.

Swirl in the right consistency makes a world of difference. I had a customer return a black car that I worked on because it was all hologrammed out--couldn't understand since I PC'd it and checked with my lights---turned out that Swirl in the water state on the rotary worked ok as a lubricant, but had almost no cutting ability with the PC, so all the PC work I did was for not.

I redid his car with a good bottle of Swirl, and it polished out beautifully very quickly with just the PC.

If you're sure you have a Swirl that is the same consistency as water, then PM me with your name/address info and we'll send you a replacement (or Richard will if you bought it from him).

There are some things I just DO NOT want to know. Ask anyone who attended MSSD about "special sauce".

pass the FDA standard that allows 3% misc items.

I don't recall ever eating off of someone's shoes. Is this a common problem for some?
