Just got back from MITM and had the pleasure of meeting Heather of DP and Richard/OctaneGuy in person. While at the DIY Car Wash, Richard was talking about everyday household stuff that is OK to use on your car but I've found that car stuff works on my MacBook!

My MacBook is less than a month old and a battery charger pack broke loose (during some spirited MITM twisty motoring no doubt) in my laptop case. It made some bad scratches in the glossy cover of my brand new white MacBook. I was thinking "this is basically a clear coat"...hmmmm...

So, I tested an area first (on the bottom - thanks Heather ) and could see that both polishes were reacting just like they would on automotive clear coat. After several passes with each product, I can barely see where the scratches/scuffs were. So, I took it a step further. I used some Slick on it! Looks great. I'm thinking that an Epic treatment is next!

 

Glad that worked out for you, I would've been afraid to even try it! Who knows what you'll be 'detailing' next while you wait for Jake to get out of the sick bay!

 

make sure you Clarity the LCD and Hydro the shell on a daily basis.

 

i detailed my nintendo ds lite the other day..i waxed it too..mm smooth. almost fell out of my hands while playing it.

 

I Epic'd my cellphone & iPod and Slick my glasses.

 

I hydro my black mackbook.... so nice, but I dunno if Epic would work... thoughts?

 

i clarity my bb every day and also my glasses from time to time.

 

don't forget to use the lambs wool mitt and the double bucket method when you wash that laptop.....

 

I clayed my eyeglasses and sunglasses to remove some sculpture clearcoat overspray I had gotten on each pair. Worked like a charm.

 

so have you guys waxed the inside of your mini?
i waxed my dash pieces. and the side pieces on the doors. they feel nice and slippery.

It took a while to get used to the sound of fiddles and the smell of smoke.

 

I take my dash out to properly polish and wax. Door jams, boot and bonnet jams, door parts, wheels, windshield, rear glass, tail lights, headlights ...
If its painted, glass or plastic its probably waxed!

 

You take your dash out??? As in disassemble it????

It is quite easy (at least on the Cabrio). The painted parts just pop out. Read ImagoX's thread on installing the Outmotoring gauge faces.
It is the only way I could get the swirls out of the dash and it is so easy that it is now part of my routine.

 

It is quite easy! I had my entire dash strewn across the front yard one weekend about a month ago (I had mine out doing the dash faces also). It was scary at the time though. I remember looking out across my lawn and thinking "what have I done?!?"

 

does the clips wear out? ie vibrations after a while?

 

They're felt-covered, for what it's worth. Or at least in my 06 they are.

 

No way I would do that. The dash clips are not made to be repeatedly sprung. Won't be long before rattles will pervade. I HATE rattles.

 

I polish all my bass guitars with Slick. Beats the stuffing out of any of the commercial guitar polish on the market.
