Something Weird on Car

Any idea on how to get rid of this? I tried to claybar it and nothing happened. My fingernail doesn't really catch on it when I scrape it. When it is wet you can't see it at all. And it is more apparent from the top view then viewing it from the side from the front of the car. It almost looks like a sticker or something that wasn't peeled off correctly.

Sorry for the crappy picture, I can try to get another if it helps. Thanks in advance.

How many passes did you make with the clay? How much pressure were you applying. If it is remnance of a sticker (like you said you think it might be) clay should pull it off, or googone. But I'm not sure if googone is safe on your paint (someone else feel free to chime in) A few more passes with the clay, with a bit more pressure, and if it is something on the paint or bonded to the paint, it will come off. If its a defect, you might want to try Prima Swirl or Meguairs Scratch-X, which will take off a very-thin layer of your clear coat to remove the defect.

For sticker residue the best product I've found that is absolutely safe is Undo, sold in craft stores. I use it to remove glue from photographs and it doesn't harm those... also used it on a friends brand new car to remove residue from removal of the dealer brand.

Would tree sap from the day before withstand a hand washing and very forceful scrubbing with a claybar? If so, what should I use to get it off?

I probably wouldn't care about it if it wasn't on the driver door so I see it every time I get in the car.

I have had treesap on my my moms car before, it took quite a few, strong passes with clay to lift it. Then more passes to completly clear it.
