Am I insane ?

Just 1 week ago was the first time in 6 years that I took a car for a wash...
Don't worry, it wasn't a Mini but my 8 year old Saab 9-5.
Of course it had been washed before... 3 years ago when I bought it, the dealer had it detailed
Last weekend we picked up my wifes MCC and I made the mistake to browse the detailing forum here.
And thanks to you guys and especially OctaneGuy I can't stand the thought anymore of having a dirty, unpolished car standing next to the new one.
Today I placed an order at DP for over $400 ...
I might have gone a little over the top but I try to rationalize it with not having anything at home at all
Can't wait to use the Saab as trainingsobject. Because the Mini shall not become such a neglected car

You sound exactly like me. I didn't take much care with other cars because they were...well...just cars.

When I ordered my MINI I couldn't WAIT to be able to detail it and take proper care of it, it was the weirdest thing because I'd never felt that way about a car, ever!

I spent my 2 month wait practicing on my POS Cavalier.

Old car gets it now!

I had the opposite happen to me. I've always washed and waxed the car regularly but I've always had white cars. Now that I have the MINI in HB, I can't stand to see any swirls/holograms. I went the whole sheep-micro-two-bucket-waffle-zaino-QD-OCD route with the MINI but then I really noticed my MINI-Trooper also sitting in the garage. It now gets the same treatment as the MINI and will serve as my PC-training environment. Thank god for OG and Ken!!! What would I do with all that extra time each weekend?

There is definitely something about this car that makes you want to keep it clean, either that or we're all very easily persuaded that we need to keep it clean.

I was in the same, rain=clean, boat before the mini arrived.

Yeah, I know, Heather gets all the attention. I hear it all the time--they are too far away to hire me to work on their cars, and they want to buy from the source. I'm like the guy in the back room that no one wants to admit they buy from. It's ok, I'm not offended. Even though in general, I have a bad memory, I don't forget the NAMers that do come on over to SCD and support me. You know who you are! A huge hug and thanks from me!

Richard
I bought the DVD - does that count? I checked carefully and there was no hug in the DVD case. No hug at all!

Did I forget to enter a promotion code or sumthin'?

Volker,

Same story happened with me. Used to wash the cars (with dawn or whatever other kind of soap I had handy)...wax? What is that? And then I bought my MINI. Read the thread on "car washing for the non-oc". Decided that was the route I wanted to go (the non-ocd part). So I placed my first order from DP. A small one, about $150 or so...the PRIMA starter pack and some MF, etc. My last order (my second order) was in gallons. Overboard? OC? Maybe...but my MINI and my wife's Maxima look awesome and they are going to stay that way

Thanks guys for the support !

I really feel bad for not ordering from Richard ... Somehow I got hooked on the Prima Super Bundle I saw at DP....

Maybe DP will give him a commission for my order

well, to be fair, if you guys got input from OG for any Prima products
let's order from him. I am sure he can make the same Prima Bundles with
the Prima goodies he has over at his store.

im just a businessman and fairness is what i believe in.

To answer your initial question, yes, you are insane. But, you are not alone. Insanity is contageous arond here. I have been feeling the onset of it lately, although I am fighting it.

I think Richard is just to nice a guy... I think I even got the DP address from one of his articles...
But I will certainly need refills etc. and then I'm gonna make up for it

Yes, you are insane. But it's okay.

Like you, I was once a happy-go-lucky non-carwasher. Now that I have a MINI, I wash and Hydro once a week. Only Prima shampoo and microfiber is good enough for my baby. We have water restrictions here, thank goodness, or I would do it more often.

It's the middle of the week and my MINI is dirty! I can't stand it!

Haha, guys, the only thing I really wanted was some recognition, and that I got. I do appreciate it. As for Bundles and such--yes, it's on my to do list!! I've actually got all the Prima products as well, I just don't have them in the store yet---something I've been meaning to get in there ASAP. Thanks for the prod.

Naw it's ok---we work as a team though we are totally separate--I'm glad to have been able to influence one of their customers to buy some Prima. With Prima, you always win (there is no you win some and lose some).

Take a look into your order inbox, Richard ... I knew I had forgotten some stuff

You really should make the Prima bundles, for nutcases like me the ideal fix ...
That's like shooting fish in a barrel

And it is not really all about the 'throw-in's' or big savings but just the convenience... but don't underestimate the 'free shipping over $xxx' factor...

Certainly! Here you go. They don't have pix, but they are the same pads. I need to take some pix.
