Show me your details

Ok, so I remember seeing a post where someone posted pics of their pepper white freshly detailed. I couldn't find it but got me thinking...

Everyone please post picks of their freshly detailed cards and maybe what you used or special tips or tricks...

I'll try to post one of mine soon when I can get home and do it

Good job Jeremy! Glad you posted that last pic under the direct sunlight.

It would take too much space to post my details, so you can go visit when you got a couple of free days.

Unfortunatly the only sunlight picture I have on the Jetta is my test spot before the Amigo and Epic. Stupid sun hid behind the clouds most of the day.

Impressive results guys. To hijack my own thread, got a question. My wife's trailblazer has lots of dings all over it (guess because she parks in a lot of parking lots and the big vehicle takes up a lot of the space). I plan to give a a good detailing when I get to my new home (hopefully soon). Probably use swirl and amigo on it. Don't suppose those will do much for the chipped dings. Will anything help them aside from touch up paint. I'm not sure it's worth it since she wants to trade it in soon on a bigger SUV (egads I know).

Thanks for any comments (except on the size of my wife's vehicle).

I don't quite understand. Are these dents (dings) with missing paint?? Most dings I see aren't missing paint. Any polish, including Swirl, will make existing paint look great. But it can't perform miracles and make nonexistant paint look better!

Another thing that sometimes happens is that dings and chips not visible before polishing become more pronounced after polishing because all of a sudden the swirls and scratches that masked these defects or took your attention away are gone.

Missing paint or chips will need touchup paint. Dings and dents will need PDR (Paintless Dent Repair). For everything else, you have Swirl and Epic!

I guess I'd descibe them more as paint chips - basically little white spaces in the blue paint where doors etc have been opened into it. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh in that case, touch up paint is what you want. A pen is probably easiest to use. Don't expect a perfect repair. From 3 to 5 feet away it should look great, but from 1 foot away, you will be able to see the filled in chips. But just a warning, whenever I get cars with touchup paint, I remove them and do it myself because usually when people apply touchup it looks worse than without it. Too much is applied, or they don't put the clear coat touch up so they have a matte painted repair that sticks out. Best results will come from not using the brush that comes with the touch up paint.

I agree, your better off going to an artist supply store and buying a nice brush there. Then use it to do the touch up. Just a small amount, it might take two daps, but let it just fill the chip, it may even sink it a little, remember you have to leave room for the clearcoat. Let it dry good and then you can buff it with the orbital.
