I plan on taking off the cooper s badge from the rear hatch and putting on the R53 badge I just ordered. My question is, before i put the new one on, should I or do I need to do anything specific to the surface? I plan on giving it a good wash(and when my detail guy gets a chance) clay the whole car. Should I get it done before putting on the new badge?

you should remove the old emblem, clean/clay/polish the car then
before you apply wax place that new emblem on.

then cover the emblem and the immediate paint surrounding the
emblem with painter's blue tape. wax the car.

dont get wax or water near that adhesive until it sets completely...
usually takes 24hrs.

 

I had a R53 badge on mine when I bought it, but took it off 2 days later. Looks too boy racer for me. Looks mega clean without it!

 

i was thinkin about taking off the cooper s. but just incase i want to have it put back on where would i buy one? from a dealer? or some other special website? O.o

 

i would just replace the backing and reuse.
