Internal work

What's best to keep dust off my piano black panelling?

And, is it safe to use a Swiffer duster to lightly dust the surface once in a while?

california interior duster works great.

make sure you break it in by placing the mop on news papers for a week.
shake it once a day or so.

I have used Swiffer dusters...I do think the California duster (interior version) works better though. It seems to trap the dust better.

I also discovered today that I reallllllly like using the vacuum with the soft-brush upholstery attachment for the dash and center stack. I had covered the back seats (lowered) and cargo area with a peach wool blanket and it fuzzed everywhere. I had to vacuum the entire car, headliner and all, to get rid of it all!

for dust/pollen on the speedo and tach clear plastic lens, I use packaging tape and press LIGHTLY several times and it picks up all the dust/pollen without any wiping that could cause swirling or hazing

I've had issues with dust in the car once in a while (like residue from the cleaning cloths) and on the seat belts. I thought a long time about the best way to get rid of both.

I now vacuum the belts and any lint left behind from the cleaning cloths when I vacuum the floor, which is my last step in cleaning the interior. this seems to work well for me. I have used the brush attachment on the vacuum to get dust off of instruments, radio controls, etc.

For my dash (carbon fiber) I just wipe it with the interior cleaner and it seems to work well for removing any smudges or dust. Right now I'm using Nero from Detailer's Paradise.

I remember my Dad using scotch tape for his car in the 60's. Different tape..same method. Although after reading this post, I went out and tried it with duct tape. Works really well! Thanks!

The Swiffer dusters are quite safe to use on the piano black interiors. As others have said, the Cal Dash Duster may work a little better but I would call them equally safe in terms of scratch prevention. Wool dusters also work extremely well and are the safest, IMO (because they don't really touch the surface as they draw up the dust).

To help repel dust on a painted interior surface like your piano black, we have found that either Prima Slick or Prima Hydro both work very well. Nero also works well, but Slick or Hydro will do a better job of repelling the dust on a painted surface (Nero is better for traditional vinyl dashes though!).

Awesome suggestions! I'll add the wool duster to the shopping list on my next DP order!

Thank you all!

Another vote for the interior cal duster. I keep one sealed up in its original plastic behind my seat in the car and pull it out whenever I get in and notice any dust. 5 seconds later and the dash/instruments/piano black trim are all completely dust free.

^^ probably best to keep it away from heat so the paffrin doesnt
soften up, so might be better in the boot while parked in the sun.

I used Nero on my vinyl seats...works great...now my seats squeek when I slide on to them...just like brand new (well, the MC is only 8 months old)! Also worked really well on the dash.

Nero will take that off and will help prevent future marks. On my car I have no shoe scuffs as most of it is prevented by earlier Nero-power.
