Every morning in the shower.
So far no complaints from my wife.
And she doesn't call it a Mini.

Ok not sure this is the place but, does anyone know what I can use to cover
scratches on the back of my front seats? (2006 MCSCA) I unfortunately have to take my Mom's walker with me when she is along and the back seats are
down and it rubs on the back of the front seats from time to time. I have tried Armour-All, works some but not great. I have a dark blue interior.
Thanks.

i have some Prima Nero on mine.

mine too has some scuff marks from just normal use with people in the
back seats, etc.

it's best to have protectant on there as it will help prevent new scuff
marks. it doesn't scuff as easily.

Thanks I will look for it today. I guess you can get it at a Auto Products store? Also any ideas for bug splat removal. I just got back from Florida and they have those "Lovebugs" nasting little things.

Here's a link to a thread that briefly discusses the various fixes and alternatives. I'm also told you may match the color of the seatback with a Crayola crayon and that a light melt of the crayon into the scratches works well (similar to the grease pencil repair).

Thanks, I will check out one of those seatback protectors. Kind of like
locking the barn door aftet the horse ran away, but hey I'll try anything
once.

There's a coin-op just around the corner from where I work. Since I just hose-soap and rinse, my four quarters go a long way.
When I do the intensive wash at home, I can parallel park in my driveway (wicked steep); orange cones help with the traffic (I stick them out in the road taking up the space as if I'd parked on the side of the road without the indent).

for bug splats, im happy with Wizard's BugRelease. makes washing bugs off
the paint/glass sooooo much easier.

that and Nero are both available from www.detailersparadise.com

I agree with you on the spray washes. I travel on gravel roads and get the rear end very dirty. To get it absolutely clean...hand wash.

How do you keep the dust off the rims and tyres?

If the rims/wheels are clear coated, you can use a good quality polymer sealant to make it easier to removed brake dust.

Do not use any oil based chemicals on the tire, such as Armor-All. I clean the wheels with Meguiars Vinyl/Rubber Conditioner/Cleaner. It is water based and does a pretty good job of cleaning the wheels. Just be sure to keep it off the tread.

Once the brake pads wear out, replace them with ceramic pads.

you guys need to try Prima Wheel Shield.

i got my new bottle of Slick today. I seems Prima-line works best
with Slick as their QD. SpeedShine makes the surface clean, but
diminishes the clear gloss effect a little of Wheelsheild/Hydro. kinda
turns it looking a tad little soft.

going to continue using Slick as my QD for wheels.

I really do not want to use a product which makes my tires look glossy or wet. I prefer a more natural looking rubber for the tires.

Any good polymer sealant will work well for clear coated wheels. Use what you like. Like what you use.

who are you talking to, skuzzy? for tires, i use InsaneShine
but in very small amounts. it's a nice semi-matte finish and lasts a long
time. very easy to apply too.

well you got polymers, then you got wheelshield. until you try it,
you wont know wat you're missing out on. (and i know you're
OCD enough that you want to try it)

Sorry, I meant general "dust" from letting the MINI sit in the garage . Currently I use Griot's BOS to wax my S-Lite rims. Does a great job of keeping the brake dust off, but when my MINI sits (like Ken's) it get dust on the rims. I am afraid to use my CA duster to clean it off.

I should probably just use the 70mph trick more oftern to remove the dust.

i dont' open the garage door during the week so no dusting. i toss my trash out from the front door.

i just use Slick and some soft paper towels to clean off wheels after
a drive.

Oh kenchan, I'll get around to trying just about everything. Just takes some time. Tires, I am really picky about. I simply detest any type of shiny/artificial look on my tires.

I am happy with my wheel solution right now. I never have to scrub the wheels and only have to seal them once every other month. What brake dust that manages to stay on the wheels just washes off.

For garage dust, I solved that by building an air recirculation system with filter in the garage. Solves most any dust issue. Keeps about a 10MPH breeze in the garage.

I have more of a problem with the car getting dusty at work. Still trying to figure out how to solve that one. The landlord will not allow me to put in a portable garage.

I run a detail duster across the body every evening when I get home from work, and that seems to keep it clean for a long time. And when I gas up, I clean the windows and bugs in the grill.

Hey Skuzzy, that's an amazing system you have there in your garage. I need something like that...but I probably cannot afford it.
