That's my schedule as well. Wax once a month, wash every week, and Cali Duster most nights once I'm home from work - with a quick shot of detail spray when it needs it.

OK, what the heck is detail spray? And I assume the duster is just to sort of feather dust off the car between washes (I have to drive about 100 yards of dirt road to get home, hate it). I'll have to get a mitt and quit the foamy brush thingy at the coin wash.

detail spray just allows you to clean up any mess not picked up by a duster... unless its rained on dust, most dust should come off with a nice california duster... then detail spray gives it a nice shine... its essential if you aren't washing every week

I was once a week... at least I try... Zaino every 4 months... P21S every month, Interior Detailing Done every 2 months, because i wipe inside every now and then

Newt, tell me you didn't take that brush at the coin ops to your paint!?!?! I don't even want to know what your finish looks like, "clean" in direct sunlight! FYI, Detail spray is a spot cleaner used to remove light dust, bird poop, hand smudges, etc from time to time. Most of us "OCDers" carry a bottle and a quality MF in their boots for such occasions. Detail spray should NOT be used in place of a wash.

I usually wash 2 to 3 times a week, depending on weather, with the fiance's A3 getting it AT LEAST once a week. I keep some pretty damn clean cars, and am proud of it. Why spend time and money on a car if you are not going to take care of it?

BTW...

Keeping a clean car, and/or appreciating one, does not make you crazy or obsessive compulsive, etc. I think LynnEl needs to find a new practice other than needling the guys that like to keep their cars tip top.

Hon, we use the term OCD in Detailing 101 on a regular basis, and we all mean well by it. Don't take it personally...it's used affectionately.

I have gone, for the first time in 4 years, two weeks without a wash. Then again the MINI week day consists of garage, 9 miles to work to covered garage, 9 miles home to garage, and it hasn't rained in two weeks!!! And yes, I detail spray every night and do the interior once every two weeks, Meguiars NXT and 21 Polysealant every 6 to 8 weeks. MMMM shiny!!! No, I'm not obsessed, not at all - why do you ask?

I never just wash my cars. The monthly regimen:

Week 1: Wash, Wax exterior (two passes: polymer sealant/carnuaba wax), Vacuum interior. Apply conditioner to exterior hard plastic.
Week 2: Wash exterior. Apply conditioner to all exposed rubber parts. Clean and apply conditioner to all interior leather/vinyl, Steam clean carpet mats. Vacuum the rest.
Week 3: Wash exterior. Do a wax/sealant touch up if needed. Steam clean underneath, engine bay, wheelwells, and suspension components.
Week 4: Wash exterior. Do the rubber seals again.

Weather can change all of it, but that is the general calendar schedule.

A lot. Actually quite a lot. Probably way too often. Definitely more then is needed (but less then I want).

yes

I am aware that this term is used frequently, I just don't get it. I guess my point was that I see little purpose in trolling the detailing forum and mocking those that look after their cars...

Ditch the armor all and pick up some Prima Nero...your life will change! And remember, it goes on nothing you touch regularly (steering wheel, console buttons, etc) or sit on, one of many marks of a cheap detail.

Amazing - especially since all summer in your neck of the woods the MINI also gets a sauna treatment.

Those of us who aren't as exacting in our detailing practices actually really admire the Obsessive Compulsive Detailers. It's a good thing. Mock-mockery is just another sense of humor.

I wash Luna every week, including 303 on the arches & rubber, Z-6 on the paint/glass, Z-16 on the tires, a quick wipedown inside with a MF towel and vacuum if needed.

Every 5-6 months clay & wax with Z-5 & Z-2.
Every few months the leather gets Z-9 & Z10 cleaning & conditioning.

Soon I will be introducing Luna to the Primo line of products, and from what I've read apparently my life will change.

By the end of the first year, the car is too fat to fit in the garage and too slow to outpace a Yugo.

Weather permitting? I have become used to hand-washing the MINI about once a week, a QD every other day or so; interior gets the bi-weekly detail. And then there's the "occasional wax" (*ducks*). Advantage- I've got the wash/dry/wheels process down to under 30 minutes!

(Other day my neighbor passes by and says, "I really don't see how it can get any cleaner". I reply, "You should have seen it 20 minutes ago!")
