FS: R98 "Web-Spoke" OEM 17" wheels in DC area (pics)

These have been SOLD.

Hey all,

I have a set of OEM 17" R98 Web-Spoke two-piece wheels that I am trying to sell. They are in perfect condition. Currently they have the OEM Dunlop SP Sport 9000 performance run-flat tires on them, although the tires are quite worn, so they will need to be replaced soon. I suspect that many people buying new wheels will have their own ideas for tires anyway (such as non-runflats).

These wheels weigh 22.3lbs each - about average for OEM 17" wheels, but several pounds lighter than the "sport" S-Lites (which are 25.1 lbs).

MSRP for these wheels is $419 each (i.e. $1676 for all 4). Even with a 20% discount, the best price you'll probably find from a retailer is $1340, plus the hassle of shipping, etc.

My price is $1200 (or best offer). i.e. $300/wheel. (not selling separately though)

If the price seems high, keep in mind these aren't banged up! I will consider close offers though.

DC area strongly preferred - I don't want to hassle with shipping them. I will personally deliver them to anywhere in the DC/Baltimore/Annapolis region.

The reason I'm selling them? I love these wheels, but I just don't need them any more. I have the 18" R95 JCW "Spider Spoke" wheels for the summer, and 17" heavy-duty R85 "S-Lite" wheels for the winter.

Here's what they look like, for those who forget - stock photos:

And here are the ACTUAL photos of my wheels - including one photo of the stack (tire wear apparent):

Maybe if GD paid me enough I'd be able to take these off your hands....you willing to have the tires removed?

Why would you want them removed ahead of time? I actually inquired about doing that last year when I got my new wheels... they said that it would only end up costing more, because there would then be a separate charge to put the new tires on later.

For that reason, the only real benefit of removing the tires ahead of time would be to reduce on shipping... which isn't an issue if I'm bringing them to you!

I tell you what though - if you get two quotes to put new tires on... one where they don't have to remove the old tires first, and one where they do... I'll pay the difference! How's that sound?

Maybe he is only interested in the tires?

Heh - I don't see why... they are quite worn. Not quite slicks yet, but getting there... I suppose they'd have a purpose on a drag strip, autocrossing or other strictly dry-pavement activity!

Then I dunno? I was just throwing out a possibility, definatly not a probability. If I had 17's and alot of spare money but I'm running 16's (and loving it) and have an airbag to replace

I should also point out that another benefit of leaving the tires on until they are replaced is that they help protect the wheels from damage.

Not yet. I didn't expect them to sell overnight... but since it's springtime, I figured now was the best time to post. I actually got my JCW wheels last summer, so these have been sitting in my storage room, waiting for me to do something about them!

Did you end up selling these rims? They really are gorgeous. If they are still for sale, next time I am in your neighborhood, I wouldn't mind taking a look! I think they'd look awesome on the new MINI for the summer.

Nope, I still have them... you're welcome to drop by anytime and see them... I'll try to take pictures of them and post them soon as well.

As noted above in my Location setting, I live in Annandale, VA. PM me for the exact address and scheduling!

Mind you, like I said in my first post, I'll be happy to deliver them personally to anywhere in the DC region!

Update: I finally went ahead and took pictures of the wheels:

Edge's NAM Gallery: R98 Web Spokes

Note that one of the pics is of them stacked, so you can see how worn the tires are.
