Where would you get your stereo ?
Crutchfield.com
They send you your stereo, dash board adapter (so that it fits properly and matches like OEM), and wiring harness... All included in the cost of the stereo. So all you have to do unscrew the two uprights on each side, unscrew the 2 screws holding in the radio, and pop in the new stereo using the exsisting harness so you don't have to cut any wires or modify anything.
I'd highly recommend it, and it would save ya loot.

I would second crutchfield, but if you aren't handy installing it yourself and just want to go the major store route, avoid the Best Buys and Circuit City stores where they usually have unqualified high school kids installing your equipment.
I've always really appreciated the excellent knowledge and customer service I've received from Tweeter. They didn't install a sound system in my MINI, but have done systems in my prior vehicles, in addition to home video and audio components. Do your research, especially on NAM's forums to quiz your installer before deciding (for example, will it work with the steering wheel controls, etc).
Of course, if anyone knows a local sound shop, I would probably go there above Tweeter to support local business. And of course, you have the real experts working at those since they probably own the business itself.
Good luck! Let us know who you end up choosing and how it turns out!

MD STREGA2
PS: Still 8,000 miles behind you !!!
I also recommend Crutchfield if you plan on doing your own install.
And before everyone jumps on them about their prices, let me say now that no, you will *not* get the best price through Crutchfield. However, in exchange for spending some extra $, you have a very competent support team behind you to help out with any problems that you may encounter, and they have an excellent return policy if the problems end up becoming unsurmountable.
Is that worth the extra bucks? Personally, I think so, but you're milage may vary!
-Paul!

What are you having installed, and where in the dash? I'd love to know!
