Best shot would be your work, cause I can't make breakfastes with my work schedule.

They are also know as Canopy Tours. It's a series of zip lines and rope bridges along with a few challenges through trees and under the leaves of trees. In most cases you take a chair lift to the top of the mountain or hill (depends where you go), hike to the starting point. Once there you are harnessed to ziplines and then you can zipline high above the mountain down to lower areas. (Some pictures below)

I'd do this in a heartbeat, but where can one do it? There are no real mountains nearby.

How about a Chincoteague, Assateague, V. Beach, Norfolk, Williamsburg, etc.. Long weekend loop.

I am looking in to that as we speak. I know there is one in PA but I would like to find one closer.

Chincoteague - If we had a large group of us we could almost line up from point to point . When I was little i used to like going over all the little bridges but i've not been back within the past 2 years. I heard that they are trying to get rid of the old signs but I hope they don't because it helps add to the "antiqueness" (not a word but it gets the point across) of the island.

The back roads from Assateague to Chincoteague are pretty cool as well!!!

Wonderful Ideas Everyone!
Now here is what I need..............If you want to do one of these events, look at the calendar...Start planning. Unfortunatly Jay and I can't do all the planning of events, but we can sure help out with what we can. But Seriously, we are all brainstorming some really cool events, and I would LOVE to see all of them done! But again, Jay and I can't and aren't going to plan everything. So someone take the lead on some of these events and look into them. Especially if it requires us to make reservations to a park, or a rope course, or hotels, etc...If we start now, we may get in!
Let us know if and what you want to start planning.

What about the Spring Horse Races, Steeplechase, like Gold Cup or the Middleburg Races...There are opportunities to tailgate and watch the horses.

A strong second to this. The Event Coordinators are just that - Coordinators. There to help get ideas going and facilitate. They are not "organize, plan and execute every event for the entire club" people. They keep our calendar to make sure we don't double book major events on the same day. If you have an event idea - talk to Stacey and Jay and then RUN WITH IT. Make it your own. And take us along.

This is for late Spring or Summer:

Saturday tea at LDG for a casual meet (LDG sponsor ), then a short scenery drive (roughly 45 minutes):

From LDG - 97N - 99E - 32S - Triadelphia Rd - Folly Quarter Rd - Homewood Rd - 108E - Centennial Park.

An afternoon BBQ at Centenial Park (have to reserve a pavilion though).

It should be a fun afternoon.

What about ice skating in the sculpture garden in DC? http://www.nga.gov/ginfo/skating.htm

OR...

I volunteer at a local assisted living home. They LOVE to talk and I bet they would love some visitors.

Ok. I am bringing this thread back up because Jay and I are attempting to put together the year's calendar of events. I have pulled out the ideas from what you all have suggested and will be bringing it with us to the annual meeting to get some more ideas and people to 'run' with them to start planning.
So far I have about 27 different event ideas, each plausible this year.
I of course would love some more, because I want to see a FULL calendar! As I am sure you all would love to see that too.
So bring in some more ideas and we can start planning!

No, breakfast not included. Also, we are trying NOT to schedule events the same day as the breakfasts, or at least the morning of.
