Love the video!! Oh, and you're all freakin' insane!!

I'd love to do *all* of this. I'll have to see what the gub'ment has in store for me first though.

-Paul!

Edit: Ooh, even more tempting since a trip on the AutoTrain is planned! The Lorton, VA station is literally 10 minutes down the road from me!

No stop at It's Nutts. Sorry. But we'll make up for that, I promise. There's this restaurant out in PA called Leiby's...

Is there going to be a weigh in at the start and a weight out at the end? he he he

I LOVE this run - trying to see if this is do-able! I just hope I am strong enough to eat ice cream at every stop!

Not at the moment. We're trying to focus the run on local shops that make their own ice cream. We're actually trying to avoid the "biggies" like DQ, Cold Stone, etc.

Something else that I should mention... I'm working with Amtrak to get us a group discount (and possibly our own car on the train). Before they can give me a price, I need to tell them how many cars/people we'd have on the train. So if you are serious about doing the trip and want to take the train down, please shoot me a PM or email so I can begin making a list. So far I believe we have 3 cars committed to the train.

I am going to talk to MiniNurse about this. I know she won't be able to go because of the Dragon, but I may be able to go. We used to live in Lake Mary FL, which is next to Sanford. We also lived in Savannah GA. Sounds like fun.

Speaking of Ice Cream, I stopped by the local shop and they had what I think to be a seasonal flavor out, Apple Pie. So I bought a pint and had some last night. It was rather tasty. I'm not too sure what the base flavor was for the ice cream but it had chunks of fresh apples and pie crust in it so everything was good.

Huh, I wonder if there's any relation to the Hoffman's ice cream in NJ. The Hoffman family runs two homemade ice cream shops up there, and they happen to have an apple pie ice cream that sounds exactly as you described!

Mmm... ice cream...

Website has been updated with additional ice cream shops and route info for Day "0" (travel day for those taking the train down).

There's even an ice cream shop that serves "Doggy ice cream" on request.

It's not a local shop, but Ben and Jerrys does tours of their factory in Waterbury, Vermont. For the real ice cream fanatics, it might be something to consider on the way back home.

Lots of stuff going on! We've got the route info for Day 2 posted, I've updated the list of ice cream shops, and we've got door prize donations starting to roll in.

Just added a mailing list sign-up to the website. Submit your email address to stay in the loop when important announcements are made.

Anyone who registers for all or part of the run will be automatically added to the mailing list so we can keep in touch with participants up to the last minute.

Your email address will be used for no other purpose than to keep you updated about The GREAT Ice Cream Run!

Oh, and Day 3 & 4 route info has been posted as well!

The first official email newsletter, "The Scoop", has gone out to those subscribed to The GREAT Ice Cream Run mailing list. To stay in the loop and not miss any new developments, just submit your email address on the home page of The GREAT Ice Cream Run website!

http://thegreaticecreamrun.com

If you plan on doing any portion of the run, PLEASE sign up for the mailing list. Just as with MINIs on Top, it's the best way to stay on top of major developments or last minute info before the run.

OK, after some major technical difficulties with the previous mailing list service , I have switched to another more reliable mailing list service.
So... if you tried to sign up for the event mailing list previously, but could never get through

1. Go to the ice cream run website.
2. Enter your email address.
3. Complete the short registration form that will pop up.
4. Check your inbox for a welcome email from the list. Once you receive that you'll know your registration went through OK!

All those who had confirmed registrations on the old site have been automatically signed up for the new site.

Sorry about all this confusion everyone.

Registration is now officially open!!! (A little later than hoped, but open!)

Due to the complex nature of this run (and some of the surprises we have planned), official registration is required. All registration forms must be received by March 30, 2007. Forms received after that will be returned. This is necessary so we can get all the registration packets pulled together and mailed out to everyone in time for the run.

Click on the link below to begin registration:
