The GREAT Ice Cream Run: 6.9.07 - 6.15.07
Correct; this is the first year for the great ice cream run, inspired by MINI Takes The States.
(but MINIsOnTop, where the run will end, is in its fifth year)

I grew up in New Hampshire and used to ski Mt. Washington in my youth... Of course you don't usually start skiing the mountain until May... The MoT sounds like a lot of fun... In June they will still be skiing Tuckermans Ravine on Mt. Washington.... I'll put this past the wife and see what reaction I get...
Sorry I didn't get back in here sooner. Work is hectic right now.
To answer some questions... Yes, this is the first time for this event and it will probably be the ONLY time for this event (unless someone else wants to take it over after this year). This run is going to take up a big chunk of my vacation time for this year and I can't commit that amount of time every year to run this.
Plus, it remains to be seen how many others are going to be crazy enough to join us on this run even once.

im still tring to see what kind of funds im going to have availible when this run starts, vacation time, its gonna eat all of it, but i really want to run it. I will be a more or less last minute answer also.
Sounds like A LOT of fun and worth the extra calories (and cavities) from eating ice cream all day long... my hubby and I may have to join ya'll for at least part of the trip... maybe meet ya'll in Savannah and go to NC... I have to see about my show schedules, but definitely a possibility... HAVE FUN!
Just wanted to bump this up again.
We've got 10 cars registered so far and I know there are a few more registrations on the way.
Remember, even if you only plan to do a day or two of the run we still ask that you register. Registration will get you detailed route info, ID badges, and a few surprises that will be reserved for those who register.
Registration forms can be downloaded at the event website: http://thegreaticecreamrun.com
ALSO, if you will be taking the auto train down to FL, I need to know ASAP. I can't begin talking with Amtrak for a group discount rate until I have some kind of headcount (or car count in this case).

Good luck.
I just discovered this morning that most of the emails that have been sent to the "Questions", and "Route" email addresses for this run, have been getting dumped into the junk mail folder automatically. I just spent 45 minutes cleaning out the junk mail and responding to all the emails that got bumped in there. I think I've fixed the problem now.
If you've emailed me with questions or suggestions over the last few months, and didn't receive an email from me this morning, it means that your email must have been deleted entirely. I apologize to anyone who didn't get a response from me (or got a response 4 months after they sent their email).
I've updated the setting for these email accounts so this problem should not be repeated in the future.
On a happy note, we'll be announcing the t-shirt design shortly. I've had the graphic for a while. Just haven't had the time to post it...

I can't speak for anyone else since everyone is on their own for making reservations, but yes, I already have reservations for each night's host hotel and I believe Allison will be staying in the host hotels as well. Not sure if she's booked her rooms yet.
Just a reminder... The deadline for registration is approaching in 17 days, so if you're someone who likes to wait until the last minute, that minute is coming.
We welcome unregistered people to join us at the spur of the moment as we pass through their area, BUT they will not be eligible to receive any of the things reserved for registered participants.
These include:
1. Route sheets with ice cream shops and places of interest called out.
2. Event T-shirts and window clings (We might have some extras, but there's no guarantee).
3. ID badges.
4. Special offers from participating ice cream shops along the route.
5. Door prizes.
6. The other little surprises that we've got in store for registered participants.
This policy is not intended to exclude anyone or force people to register, but we do not have MINIUSA's financial ability to purchase a lot of extra stuff to give out to people who show up out of the blue.
Keep those forms coming and we'll see you in June!

Registration closes this Saturday! Slight change... All registrations postmarked by 3/31 will be accepted.
After that, I'll start finalizing shirt and cling totals so we can get that ball rolling.

The registrations have really been coming in the last few days. Here are some interesting bits of trivia...
1. We have 10 intrepid MINI owners (so far) who will be doing the entire run from FL to ME.
2. We have 12 people who will be continuing over to MOT after the run.
3. Florida currently holds the lead for the most cars registered (8) and also the most people doing the entire run (4).
4. 12 states are currently represented.
We also have a revised logo for the shirts (thanks Cooperation)...
