I hope those 12 people are all separately registered for MINIsOnTop!

By all means, yes! Shoot me a PM so we can work out some details.

That's a good point Ian. I'll send out a reminder that MOT registration is separate and up to each individual.

OK, I have finally heard back from Amtrak. Here’s the deal….
They will be guaranteeing us their lowest fares plus a 10% discount on the cars.

Here’s what I need from everyone who is taking the train…

1. Full name of the person who will be booking the train reservations.
2. What level of accommodation you want to book… sleeper, coach, etc. (see accommodation info below)
3. For those taking the auto-train south after the run, the date you plan to pick the train up in Lorton, VA to go home.

I WILL NOT BE MAKING RESERVATIONS FOR YOU! I need all this info ASAP so that I can get the final prices from Amtrak and we can all make our reservations. Amtrak wants to know the names of the people booking so that when you make your reservations, they know to give you the special rates.

Info about standard fares (our rates will be LOWER):

All fares include dinner and breakfast.

Coach: regular price: $89/person
Click here for info about coach seating.

Superliner Roomette: (regular price: add $114 to coach fare whether 1 or 2 people use the room – max occupancy is 2)
Click here for info about the roomettes

Cars: Regular price - $322, Ice cream run rate: $290.00

You guys should push a bit to get to Virginia Beach on June 10th, for the world record attempt. That would put you a day ahead of schedule.

This one. We are attempting to break the record for most MINI/Minis in a caravan! Currently held by a bunch of Brits across the pond.

For those looking to meet up with the ice cream run when we pass through your area, the list of ice cream shops on the website has now been updated to include only those shops that are included on our route. I’ve added a bunch of additional shops and removed a few that either didn’t work out with our route, or couldn’t be confirmed to still be in business.

Our evening get-together locations are also listed for those looking to come out to join us the evening we’re in your area.

For those looking to meet up with us during the run (or at least those people silly enough to follow me)...

A local NEMINI club member hooked me up with all kinds of doo-dads that will allow people to track our progress through the entire course of the run.

If you're just curious to see where we are, or are trying to figure out when to head out to meet us somewhere, you'll want to bookmark the page below and peek in from time to time, beginning this coming Saturday morning (6/9).

Cool! I used the same GPS software to get me back and forth to MOTD. The software worked great, and the Live feature is a lot of fun! Just wait until the messages that people send to the GPS start pouring in! Plus, you'll get an occasional new desination suggestion that someone sends into your GPS (don't worry though, you can decline it)!! For example, while on the way to the Dragon, someone sent the address of Hamerhead Brewery, Key West, FL!! (And it was tempting to accept it.... )

Have fun!

Thanks, I was actually trying to keep it a little slower than my usually pace. I may lead a group in PA over some back roads from the hotel to Heislers, but I don't think I'm going to be leading anyone beyond local roads. I tend to get lost easy.
