Lend a newbie an MTH Cable?

Hello all -

Got my MCS ('04 DS/W) just over a year ago, and moved back to NOVA after 12 years in the midwest. I recently joined DCMM, and am looking forward to getting to know people who actually WANT to talk about MINIs, as opposed to the folks who just humor me right now...

I just picked up a 15% PULLEY and ordered an MTH tuner file to match, but have yet to install or send in my files. I am wondering if anyone would be willing to spot a fella a cable to get my files out of the coopie and off to Franz for tweaking? I am happy to make any arrangements which do not test my ethics or finances too greatly :^0

I live close to 495/Braddock Road, and I work in Herndon.

See you on the twisties!

Don't have MTH or a cable. Good luck and welcome to the club.

Welcome to DCMM.

Cable - VAG COM

It's a COMM port one but it should work with the reader. You want to give it a try? You'll need a laptop with a comm port.

waiting on my files

I sent my files out a couple of weeks ago and I'm just waiting on getting them back so I don't want to give away my cable right now. But, I'm in Frederick if you want to stop by some evening and just use my cable.

Comm Port may work

Krut -

Let me check my laptop at work for the proper port. If so, perhaps we can make arrangements - thanks!

Actually there's 2 types of cables. OBDII to USB, and OBDII to Serial.

So you're saying a obd2 comm is the same as a DB-9? Same pins straight through?

Maybe once you get a try @ the cable I can get it too. I sold my OBD-Serial a few months back when I went to Unichip and would like to take another shot @ MTH.

I've been looking into OBDII cables myself recently and it seems like most of them can communicate over a DB9-Serial to USB converter. That is to say that you can hook the OBDII cable with the serial connection into a serial to USB convreter and it should operate like normal. Although there was mention that not all USB to Serial converters are created equally so YMMV.

Dunn Loring Metro is not far off my path. I would really appreciate it if I could hook up with you to borrow the USB cable. Perhaps we could make arrangements to meet this week or next weekend?

I really appreciate this!

KRUT -

Thanks for the offer. If I can get a USB cable from VoiD, I can use my laptop from work to download and send my files. Thanks for the offer, though...
